we got approved on sept 5, yeaaaaaaaaaaah. and now i'm wondering if i will be able to do this professional qualification. i start the certificate on fridays, it lasts for a year, until december 2009. i think looking at things that the london embassy is pretty good with giving out interviews and such, so tops i might recieve the interview date in about 3 months. that doesnt leave me with enough time to complete. so could i get the visa, go over there, get hitched apply for some other visa and come back and finish the qualification. I need it so that i can teach in USA, though i will probably still have to do further study there anyway.

does anyone have any ideas

i think advance parol takes a little time to come through and you apply with aos, if you leave with out ap, or green card i believe you can't renter untill you have a new visa.

When you come on a K-1 visa it is a one time use. This means that once you enter, you must get married within the 90 day period and then apply for adjustment of status. You are not allowed to leave until your status has been adjusted to permanent. However, you can also apply for Advance Parole (AP) after your marry, which will allow you to leave and return while your status is waiting adjustment.

It takes some time to get AP, anywhere from 2 months on up. You can check the USCIS timelines for this but remember those reflect the oldest case under consideration.

Two years ago we applied for Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and AP for my wife. She got both two and a half months after applying for everything but got her green card three weeks later. So, you might need to return rather quickly after getting the AP if the green card interview gets scheduled quickly. By the way, AP is good for a year.

You can also apply for emergency AP but you'd have to see if the dates work because the marriage and AOS would need to be filed first and NOA1 received.

Your best bet may be to simply delay your US entry until you are ready to move here permanently. You have six months in which to use the visa after obtaining it.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

I'm with pushbrk- your best option is to delay the interview for a while (London seems pretty accomodating with requesting specific interview dates), say till June next year or so, then assuming you get approved, you have 6 months o use the visa, which will take you to December 09.

thank you all for your prompt replies, i will definately consider delaying the interview. however you all know what hell it is waiting to be with your other half, sacrifice yes, but i dont know if i can go thru this anymore. i'm also really questioning whether its worth my while doing this qualification simply put, i will still have to study when i get to michigan, because the skills for life stuff i teach though needed is not a main subject area there. sooooooooooo once again i dont know, any teachers who have experience of transferring thier skills to the usa, can help me out .

much appreciated.
