We just got the NOA extension letter today. I tried to enter the EAC # on the USCIS site to check status and got this message...

Validation Error(s)

You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

  • Case Status Retrieval Failed
  • This Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center.
Maybe it's too soon to check??

Okay, will try that number if it's a different one, when we get it. After thinking about it, I seem to remember either the original AOS or the EAD was late in posting to the site and we may have gotten the same message, or a similar one.

That's what I used, the same as with all of the prior applications. After thinking about it, I seem to remember either the original AOS or the EAD was late in posting to the site and we may have gotten the same message, or a similar one.

I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens.

The number on the NOA is not the same as the number on the biometrics letter. It is the reciept number from the biometrics that will show your case on-line not the NOA.

The NOA extension letter is not the same thing as the biometrics appointment letter. You can't have already received your biometrics letter if you just received the NOA1, correct?

Another thread on this here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=147472

ETA: Yes, just saw your edit. Wait for the biometrics letter. Even then, like you said, there could be a delay in getting the case into the system.

We had the same problem, until the biometrics letter arrived. You need to keep the NOA1 because that is the official extension letter, but the case number on the biometrics letter is your new number for email notification and checking on touches.
