Here's a situation.

I was following Loto's guide to NVC when compiling the I-864 packet. I've also seen a lot of messages like "don't need James Shortcuts anymore". So all said and done, here's what I've ended up doing.

1. I created a barcode and copied/pasted it on the cover letter.

2. I did not include the barcode sheet from I864 package in the packet I sent to NVC (simply because I didn't have it in hand yet).

3. NVC has already received my I-864 and they're reviewing it. It's only been half a week.

4. I got the official I-864 package in mail yesterday.

Considering the nice big bold letters "Your case will be delayed if you don't return this sheet" on the barcode sheet, does it make sense for me to contact NVC immediately, tell them I forgot to include the barcode sheet in the packet I sent out, and ask if they would accept it right now instead of waiting for a RFE? Or should I wait and see if my cover letter with a barcode on it will work? Will it work?

Thanks.

No, do not worry about it anymore. If they received the 864 and already reviewing it, it means it did not get lost or delayed. Presence of the barcoded cover sheet does not affect the review process.

Had same with RFE, send per operator's instructions, later got mail with this warning, by that time they already had it anyway.

I hope that's the case. The NVC operator told me "We don't have a record in the computer what was received but I know something was received on Friday". I hope that means it's being reviewed.

No, if she said something was received, it means they just received it and not reviewing it yet, on the way to review. It took 2 days for me with all docs sent to them from time they receive to the review start. And that what they told me first day too, "received something". Tomorrow probably they will be saying "undergoing review".

So you are ok.
