WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain has gained huge support among white women since naming Sarah Palin as his running mate and now leads Democrat Barack Obama among those voters, according to a survey published on Tuesday.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll found that much of McCain's surge in the polls since the Republican National Convention is attributable to the shift in support among white women.

The race for the White House is now a virtual tie, with Obama at 47 percent support of registered voters and McCain at 46 percent, the poll found.

Before the Democratic National Convention in late August, Obama held an 8 percentage point lead among white women voters, 50 percent to 42 percent, but after the Republican convention in early September, McCain was ahead by 12 points among white women, 53 percent to 41 percent, the poll found.

Asked about the findings during a briefing on Monday before the poll was published, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe told a Washington Post reporter, "Well, your poll is wrong." :star:

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I was hoping that the majority of women were not going to fall for this, but alas I was wrong.

Now THIS was expected. I can see a man voting for McCain because Palin is hot. Afterall, we all know where a mans brain is located.

Yes, but they do. People also will vote for Obama BECAUSE he is black and will vote against him BECAUSE he is black. Sad, but true and when they count the votes McCain does not care WHY they voted for him, he will count them all! But it is interesting in many ways what has happened.

Democrats had a chance to nominate a woman, but failed. Instead they nominated a much less experienced black man. Then the much less experienced black man throws the woman under the bus even though she garnered nearly 50% of the vote of the party and chooses som, eone that could barely manage to get 3% in his home state primary. Now they relentlessly attack Palin, or were when they thought it would be politically correct. One has to wonder if Democrats do not really secretly HATE women. If actions speak more than words, what would think? Biden is a perrenial drag on a national ticket. And choosing Biden is an admission of weakness on Obama's part. I am not saying it is a bad choice. Obama needed the help and did what he needed. McCain's choice is a sign of strength, he can afford a less experienced person in the number 2 slot. Should we vote for McCain because Palin is a woman or should we vote for Obama because he has an experienced VP to watch his back?

Perhaps the most interesting (AMAZING) thing is that Obama had just made what should have been a history making speech. The first minority to be nominated for President. Heck he even set it up that way! But the day after NO ONE is talking about this speech, they are talking about a previously unknown Soccer Mom from Alaska!!!!!! THAT is experience! THAT is what Obama is up against. Less than a week later this woman smashes the record for audiences for political speeches that Obama had set and no one talks about anything else! She took off like a rocket and Obama has been left looking for a way to get some attention! The first black man to be nominated as President has to attack the positions of the other party's VICE President in order to get any press!!! I have NEVER seen such a thing! This is far more than a few women who will switch their votes because she is a woman or a few men who will think she is "hot" Heck I am typing this in the Ukraine Portal. I lived in Ukraine. Sarah Palin is attractive, to be sure, but hot? Sorry, I was in Ukraine too long, she is maybe a 3 on the Odessa scale.

Following 8 years of George Bush, the Republicans ought to be sitting out this election! They shouldn't have a prayer! T this point in 1980 Jimmy Carter had a 12 point lead on REAGAN!!!!!!! But Obama cannot manage anything but a dead heat in polls andhe is losing ground. He has lost his claim to "change" Anything said about Palin's lack of experience only highlights Obama's lack of experience and she is still the #2 on the ticket, remember.

No, say what you will, think what you will. This was the most brilliant, stunning political rope-a-dope in election history. With one, completely unexpected, move McCain just "checked" every one of Obama's rhetorical points. Now Obama is going to have to do more than preech hope and change (whetever he means by that) and he is going to have to reach into his very limtied experience and "show us the money" and THAT he cannot do.

I am not endorsing either candidate with these statements it is merely fact. Like it or not McCain will win by a handy margin in November and I will go a step further and predict Palin will be the first woman President of the United States.
