Looks good but why 2 PCC you only need one for them. the second one you keep for the interview in case they lose something.

Ok, per loto's guide, it says one from police station and one pcc from passport office.

Well, i got both

Is that only from India? I don't know if other countries issue PCCs from the passport office...

Pattu Rani, For India they do ask for two PCC because they don't think one at the local level is reliable they want one from Passport Office and it is more reliable then one obtain at local police station. Rmusic

Ok , Today I received my IV Bill in the mail. Paid $400 online. Letter says strickly to not mail DS-230. After reading the steps, is that all that is left? My husband filling out the DS-230 and than on to his interview? Or is there more to do that I am missing?

Thanks!!

You will be asked to send in the documents after the payment is cleared. Keep checking online and when it says paid print out the cover page with the address to send the forms to.

After filing the rest of the paperwork there is nothing to do until you receive packet 4. The only thing to do will be to keep calling NVC to find out when your interview date is assigned.

What is packet 4? How did I miss that in my readings? Ugh. And here I thought the DS-230 would be mailed to my husband and then we were to await interview.

When I call the NVC they still have no record of me in their automated system, I don't get it, you would think by now it would have something.

Packet 4 contains the pre-interview forms and instructions for the medical exam. It should be sent directly to your husband about 1 month before the interview.

Don't worry I am not in the system either. You can't go by the automated system just speak to an operator.

Does packet 4 contain DS-230? Or is that seperate? Does he take the DS-230 to his interview, or is that something I fill out? Thanks!!!!!

PS.. Does the Cr-1 VIsa allow him to live and work here while the I-130 is still processing...I have tried to look up exactly what the CR-1 means and does, and I can't seem to find much except meaning Conditional Resident.

The Ds-230 is part of Packet 3. It gets sent to the NVC after the IV bill is confirmed paid. CR-1 is the type of green card you get when you arrive. WIth CR-1 the green card you get is valid for 2 years then has to be renewed. The next green card will be valid for 10 years. If you want him to come to the US while the I-130 is still being processed you can apply for a K-3 visa. You apply for the K-3 by sending an I-129F to USCIS. However if you have already reached the NVC then it doesn't make sense to apply for a K-3 the CR-1 will be approved before USCIS can finish processing it.

Thanks for your response. However, I did want him to come here while the I-130 was being processed. But as soon as I sent them my receipt frm the I-130, i right away sent out the I-129F, days later they sent it back to me and said that my I-130 was no longer pending. Then I came here questioning that and people said that automatically I was applying for CR1. I didn't even know what that was at the time. So here I am at this stage. Now that I am going this process..does that mean he will not be a legal resident? and able to apply for citizenship in a few years? Or does the CR1 act as if I had been approved for the I-130 legal resident status? I can't belive how confusing this stuff is.

When he is allowed to come on the CR1 will he be able to work?

forget the k3 and just go with the CR1. its cheaper and he will be able to work as soon as he gets here. your almost done with NVC anyways
