Just though I would say hi since I am part of this group now. Waiting for NVC to receive my file and for the papers my wife signed to arrive in the mail. Of course now that the filing procedures are changed at NVC I have to have her send me even more documents after she gets back from her trip next week.

Hi. My mother-in-law who lives in a different state will be the joint sponser and we want to make sure that we have everything correct before we send anything to NVC.

My wife's income (USC) is a bit short of the requirement (lets say it's $5000). My mother-in-law is retired and only has a pension income (government social security) as well as annuity income. Her total income including annuities is well above the 125% for 2 people, however her last tax returns does not reflect this. She also has her assets (house, cash and CD's etc). Based on these facts , is it correct to say that my mother-in-law only has to show at least $15000 (3 x $5000) in assets as a joint sponsor?

Please let me know if there is anything else we need to consider.

Thanks

Sly.

Okay, I just got through to NVC and they received my case this past Friday 09/15/2008. The operator provided me with my NVC case number, but said that they cannot "see" the IIN numbers on their screens. I didn't argue because I figure their would be no sense in it. I guess I'll just call again and see if I can obtain it...

At least they received it and generated a case number for me, though. B)

Alright, can anyone share the secret of how to get the IIN out of one of these operators? I have tried in English and in Spanish. It would be really nice to get this over with already! I just can't resign myself to waiting for the snail mail...

You'd think, since we're taking up their time already, that they'd just give it to us to get it done and over with...

Call NVC and just ask that "Can you please give me INVOICE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER" and then they'll just give it to you.

Update: I am working on my I-864 and hoping to send that out by end of this week or early next week. Still waiting for DS-3032 acceptance.

We are not speeding ahead at this point since my husband won't be entering the US until early July - hopefully he will have his visa in early January so he will enter before the 6-month expiration period and he will be on an IR-1(he has to enter after 6/27/09, 2 years after our court marriage was finalized). Should my husband have received the COA form in the mail already??? He says he has not received anything and I am worried since the Nepali mail system is corrupt - most people send mail to Nepal by EMS or DHL if they actually hope for it to get there but I assume NVC just sends it by USPS 1st Class Mail...???

Welcome jbhypno!

UDATE, recieved my IIN on Saturday 9/20 and Paide my AOS fee of $70 today 9/22.

At what point do I pay the $400 payment? Also still waiting on NVC to accept ds3032 email.

The $400 is generated once DS3032 is accepted. I emailed my DS3032 and it was accepted the same day my IV bill was generated yet.

JessyRafa,

I told the operator my lawyer was on vacation for two weeks and I wanted to get payment processed quickly. I don't know if it was luck or what but I got it in one shot with this excuse.
