AFB CULTURE

yes my friend, i am trap with my medical due to suspicious (???) finding on my X-ray!!!. 2months of waiting for the CULTURE result and hoping it will give a NEGATIVE RESULT coz if not which i hope not another 6 mons of long wait..

anyway i am on my 6th week now still no call from SLEC w/c i hope it means no growth yet.. i really do hope and pray it will be NO GROWTH until 8th week so 2 more weeks of hard long wait... not to mention the 10 month wait from uscis approval hahahaha... what else could be worst..... I am keeping my hopes high with God And My husband by my side and family.... please include us with your prayers...

I know it doesn't help, but several of us are in the same boat... in my case our 8 weeks ends October 17th. It's torture waiting and this adds insult to injury to an already long process, but most likely the result will be negative and she'll interview soon. Good luck!

- I don't trust these people at all either... I wouldn't doubt that they refer a certain % for a Sputum test.

We are all subjects to the powers that be and in our current situation - USEM. I was told at the USEC that this is a strict requirement by the USEM. I was told further that were applicants in the past who came out negative on smear tests but positive on the culture. But, if the smear tests are negative there is a high negativity result for the culture as well, so, this is one reason to be positive and happy about this part of the medical test . We just dont have a choice but to follow the rule. I would like to believe that there is wisdom in doing this tho our smear tests came out negative of TB. My culture results will be available by October 15th. It is my 4th week of waiting this week and so far no calls from the USEC. I think you are right about that, if there are no USEC calls within the culture period, there shouldn't be a problem . Just take it one step at a time and like you, counting the days...he he.... Everything will work out soon enough. After that, one more hurdle - interview at the USEM...whew!!

Finally, it is better to have everything checked here in our homeland rather than being checked at the POE and be whisked back, you know what i mean? This is just a thought but come to think of it, it would be a very emotionally devastating expereince which we should avoid. In the meantime, a friend mentioned to me, "enjoy the precious time you have with your family and close friends until that most awaited special time." As always, God bless us all.

I wish you luck but I'm sorry I'm not a religious person & I don't think God has anything to do with the BS we all deal with during this awful process. I've noticed that a lot of people on this forum are religious and I respect that. If it helps them cope with the situation then all the power to them, but I have a much more practical view of the ordeal we all face... that we are victims of a very flawed system.

Hey nowhereman, did i get your attention there? Thanks for quoting . Yes, God has nothing to do with the sytem we are dealing with. I try to view things in a balance way though. I pray to God and at the same time do my part. Can't do much with USEM's Management System. Complaints wont help either unless we get it through to someone we know at the USEM and ask him to give us priority...hehe...USEM actually gives allowances and priorities especially for business visa applicants. I work for a company who is a member of USEM's PIP Program (Priority Interview Program). Anway, everything is just a matter of time right now. Hoping this too shall pass. Cheers!

lol Yea you got my attention, but it's all good! You can have minor victories against this awful system, but you have to understand it first & I know I've become an expert the hard way. For example we submitted our first application back in Dec '07 & it was kicked back in April '08 because I made a mistake filling out the paperwork. Technically USCIS was correct in what they did, but they had the information in December & sat on it for 4 months & that's the part that really p's me off.

Anyways we re-submitted, but the second time I requested an expedite and it was approved (I am military and work in homeland defense... basically my reasoning in the expedite request was that I work in a critical area & it's not a good thing for me to be distracted with a long, drawn out K1 process while I help defend our country). So the packet gets pushed through in 44 days (instead of the usual 4-5 months) & we've essentially got back 3 of the 5 months we lost (4 months of my packet sitting in a pile + 1 month to get a 2nd packet ready). My fiancee goes to the medical & she's referred for a Sputum test... another 2 month delay!!! I know USCIS and St Lukes are entirely separate but I swear it feels like these clowns really want us to suffer as much as possible during this ordeal. I can also say that my expedite justification has been tested because I've taken some personal time here & there because this horrible process has gotten to me at times.

Like others have said these forums are kind of like therapy... a place to vent. Although at the end of the day I'm still halfway across the world from my fiancee (and she should have been here already, for all intents & purposes) sharing my experiences here & reading about other people's struggles lets me know we're all in the same leaky, crowded and often rudderless boat.
