Hi, guys, I need your advice, I have two questions. thank you beforehand.

On 08/ 29/2008, I sent application forms N-400 and $675 check to NSC. And on 09/07/2008 , the $675 was taken away by NSC.

QUESTION 1, Now I have some family issues that I need to keep my former citizenship for two years. Do you think if I call NSC, they will return $675 to me?

QUESTION 2, If NSC will not return the money to me, what way do you think I can postpone joining US citizenship while not to spend application fee again in two years? Some people tell me that if I fail in the future 100-question-examination, it is a way to postpone. Is it practable? What else ways?

I do love USA, just some special things are happening now so I need to postpone about 2 years to join the citizenship.

I never heard of USCIS returning any money ever to anyone for ANY reason.

Won't you be a dual citizen??

Oh. Okay. Then how to postpone for 2 years? If like before, it was ever very slow for USCIS to deal with so many cases, so the speed is slow. Now I want it to be slow but it seems that USCIS is very fast now.
You are not going to get your money back - forget about that. You're also not going to be able to "postpone" for 2 years. If you are skillful, you can MAYBE drag it out. reschedule your biometrics a few times, until they tell you that you can't reschedule. Then when you get notified for an interview, reschedule that, until they tell you no more - and then the same for the oath. MAYBE you can drag it out - but I doubt it.

I dunno what you have going on over there, but I don't see how having U.S. citizenship is going to harm you in any way with respect to whatever it may be.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Maybe you can call USCIS and ask them if you can postpone/put on hold your application for citizenship. But of course, make it sure that you had a good reason/alibi why you want to put on hold your application. Just give it a try to call them about it, who knows if you'll get lucky, you will not pay another $675 if you want to proceed your application....or maybe, like one of the VJ's advice, re-schedule your biometrics as well your interview, and on your interview make it sure your answer is wrong every question for re-test

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

They NEVER refund any money.

This is not a comment to criticize you.

Stupid USCIS is a double standard. You pay them for both service, and no service. The government is the only entity can run a get rich quick business.

In this case, because it's so soon, it would be nice if the OP could get back most of their fee. Bear in mind, however, that if the check's been cashed, that means someone has done some preliminary work on it. That probably includes: creating a case number, hole punching the application and supporting documents, and putting it on file. It's not a lot of work, mind you, but there is work that gets done. You could always call and ask. Part of your payment is for the priviledge to call and ask general questions and the worse that can happen would be that they say "no".

I would respectfully disagree with the above sentiment, though. It only feels this way because there's a relatively long waiting period before you get your "product". If you go to an amusement park, movies, aquarium, etc, you pay your entry fee upfront. If you have to leave early, you are not entitled to a refund. Granted, if you spoke to someone in charge they may give you free passes for the next time, but that's mostly because they want to maintain customer service and they want you to come back. They're not obligated to give you anything.

We put deposits down for work/business that we could knowingly lose if we change our mind. We pay processing fees for applications we may ultimately not qualify for (college, loans, etc). This is not as uncommon as you would think.
