In the nearly 4 years I have know my husband, he has had 4 jury duty notices. Last week he got another notice, which requests particular info about his suitability to be on jury. He moved to Hawaii about 8 months ago, so he figured it would be in the clear for at least a few years.

I've never had jury duty notice in Canada - I actually don't know a single person who has.

Anyone else got jury duty notice? Did you get out of it? Did you serve?

I got one and served on a jury a few weeks after I was naturalized. They didn't lose any time. I enjoyed the experience. Probably wouldn't if I was called every year but serving on a jury is overall a worthwhile contribution to our legal and governmental system.

I agree with you, so does my husband. When he told his coworker (life long resident of Hawaii) he said "yeah, I got one of those once, and it was a real waste of time. So every time I get another one, I throw it in the trash. Its not registered mail, they don't know if I've actually got it." Oh Steve is so cranky!

My wife got one recently, and she isn't even a citizen.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

If I ever get on a jury, I'm going to vote "not guilty" and stick with it.

When called for jury duty in Ketchikan, my husband always said he'd go with guilty and sleep through the trial. According to him chances are the people were from Metlakatla and guilty.

I got called for jury duty when I was 20 and 21. One time I had to convince the judge to dismiss me, they called me back soon after, next time I just made myself seem as biased as possible, and was let go. Thankfully haven't been called back since then. When I needed a job, or wanted a day off of my current one, where were they? Nowhere!

didn't mean to do that .... just what the other idiots (jurors) wanted was so wrong ... they just wanted to go home .... well even the judge was late for dinner that day.

Try not to shout "Hang them!" when asked if you can reach a verdict based on the evidence presented. ;)

i don't even get selected, so i can't say that! :crying:
