Have the Aborigines "gotten over it"....?

What have you and England done to repay them back?

After all your ancestor started that mess. As they did with many around the world.

I forget you said the UK is paying them. Who? how much? The Aborigines you bring up time and time again have not received anything..

Seriously, is this honestly how you think? Do you really think that if someone is better off than they would have been if *insert whatever variable you like here* makes any kind of sense as a justification for what happens to people in their actual lives?

That is bizarre logic. While I was having a dig at you, I was actually hoping that you would recognize how ridiculous your logic was by 'suggesting' in a tongue in cheek fashion that you only exist because the British decided to send out all its worst criminals to a far away island. However, you seem to think this re-emphasiss the point you were orignally making. How absolutely incredible.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Boo-Yah what's wrong? You've switched off your targetting computer...

Stay on target. Stay on target....

Lets not deviate from the point you made. You said people should "get over it" and be thankful - because if all these terrible things hadn't happened in the past the lives of their descendents would be "much worse" and because as you say - in Australia people don't complain about such things.

I'm just asking you if that's true in the case of the aborigines... Is it?

Are they happy with their lot? Do they not complain about things?

I suppose the Australian government assumed responsibililty for them when they declared independence ;)

Is that how it works in the #6 book. So we create the mess yet you are left to fix it. Then we stand on the sidelines and apparently root for those that we ###### up in the first place.

I think you have that the wrong way round - unless you really are saying that you create the mess and other people have to clean up for you. Perhaps in your own life...

As I said - there's all the makings of a 21st century Basil Fawlty here...

Sure thing. When it comes to England's notorious past then we change angles to suit ourselves hey. Then it is a case of, 'not my problem anymore' right #6.

I forgot you claim you are paying various countries.

I see why you want to focus on Aborigines and African slaves. Strangely enough something your ancestors had a direct part in..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

No that is what you are saying. England played a leading role in America's slavery as well as the treatment of Aborigines. Yet 'you' are claiming well not my problem now but I want Americans and Australians to fix this mess up. I'll just continue eating the curry i like. Oh wait England created a problem there as well with Pakistan.

You guys should be the ones paying up and accepting them into your colleges and compensating them for their ancestors, not us. You created the mess you pay for it.

After all this is what you are basically advocating right # 6..

But I don't deny it... I'm well aware of the exploitation resulting from Britain's imperial past. But I'm not the one who is sitting here applying a guilt rationale to people like Michelle Obama on the basis of assumptions made about her family history and extrapolating this out over an entire population.

You said this doesn't happen anywhere else - and I asked "what about the aborigines".

Well... do they complain or don't they? Its a simple question - we don't need a big deviation from the original topic just because you don't want to discuss what is obvious and what we both already know.

I think the point is that there are representative governments in both the US and Oz who have a responsibility towards the minorities in their own populations.

But I shake my head that you use your own ignorance to basically obfuscate this topic. I'm not terribly surprised of course - but it is amusing to see you go wild painting all outside the lines just because you don't want to address an issue that would contradict your earlier claims.

Charles, for once I like your pictorial message. It should end :)

can't we talk about something more important, like the pros and cons of stick shift versus automatics? :P

Funny how when someone who you do not agree with makes an equivalent point, you almost always ask them to prove it. Yet now are changing your tact.

Actually I'm being honest - I really don't know.

But lets not forget that this is a tangent you introduced because you didn't want to answer a question that I asked. Again... Are there race issues in Australia with respect to the aboriginal population? Do Aborigines complain about their treatment in a supposedly representative Democracy?

Simplest I can make it - Yes or no ;)
