Maybe I should have my friends from South Africa, back in Australia, tell you how grand life is there with the constant violence and crime. And they were born and raised in SA, which is quite peaceful in comparison to other nations there.

It doesn't matter what university you go...it doesn't matter what corner of the earth you live...racial devide/racism always exist.

This much is true.

So if you are white and bad mouth your fellow white man is not racial comments, but if you bad mouth other color it is a racial comments...what is that tell you?

Any hating of a race just because of race is indeed racism.

You'll have to define "badmouthing" because some idiots take criticism of actions (instead of criticizing the race because of race) as if it's racial hatred, which is, of course, a front for their own racially motivated prejudices.

For instance, I've been called racist because I criticize Obama and the U.S. CBC. I've also been called racist (or even funnier, self-hating) because I criticize white religious males in this country for things they've done and continue to do. As you said, it's something you have to deal with, which is why I love pissing off racist people.

Race should not be used at all if someone disagree with you or call you names.

On the other hand, if something is racially motivated, a spade should be called a spade.

Let me xplain...yes! slavery is bad but, most of the black where would they be without slavery...for sure they are still in Africa and maybe starving to death...they should be thankfull their roots where sold to America to became slave and they sacrifice for their future. Black American should be proud as an American this is the only county that your dream can come true, try that in Africa dude???

There were blacks who had it well off in Africa, and they were treated dirt poor here. Your attempt to trivialize the nature of deaths and suffering is not going to get you any closer to a solution, but make people realize you have no clue about history and what blacks went through. You can't learn a lesson and be educated today if you downplay what happened in the past and forget the lessons that this extreme racial divide brought us.

Actually I wasn't going to touch your example at all - for the simple reason that I don't think such things are very relevant. To paraphrase:

"Think how good you have it - because if your ancestors weren't displaced, murdered and sold off into slavery, your life would be terrible".

Sure. Lets just pretend that the racial divide in this country is entirely made-up, that repression didn't happen and that by pretending that the past didn't happen we can reach some politically correct fantasy land where everyone is equal and there is no prejudice of any kind.

I have no idea what Michelle Obama's background or family history is - I'm not going to assume either. Neither am I going to write her off as some sort of race-whiner or race-baiter on the basis of her university thesis without actually reading it to get her perspective.

Too much is made out of generalities - and I think that unless you're deliberately intending to slander this woman you should listen to what it is she is actually saying rather than just write her off according to type.
