Every forum I go to on different websites, on TV, yadda yadda is either about Palin, McCain or Obama... maybe its cause I can't vote, I don't know, but I was just wondering if anyone else was tired of hearing about politics? I can't have a convo with anyone without one of those names coming up.... ahhhh!

It'll all be over in about 9 weeks, after the elections.

Will it? I figured after the elections it'll be more.

Well, I for one am glad to see people discussing politics in public forums. I got pretty quiet here on VJ for awhile until McCain picked a VP who nobody really knew. I think dust still needs to settle over that big surprise.

Then it will be four years of people complaining that the wrong guy got in, and attacking the other side for being stupid enough to vote for him....

In the UK, the whole thing is usually over and done with, start to finish, in 6 weeks. And most Brits are bored to tears with election coverage after 2 weeks, give or take.

Quick elections - it's one of three things I really miss about being the other side of the Big Pond, along with a decent curry and a ready supply of Cadbury's chocolate.

In Canada too. In fact, Prime Minister Stephen Harper called upon the Governor General to dissolve Parliament this past Sunday which means that Canadians will go to the polls to elect a new government on October 14th. There won't be a problem counting ballots either - the pencilled "X" or check-marks next to the name on paper ballots will be manually counted and the results from across the country will be known later on that same evening.

Ah, so the its the Canadian in me thats tired of it ;)

It makes sense now, I didnt think it was like this back home

This is the second presidential election I have been in the US for, and I can tell you that I am thoroughly sick of American politics, not just relating to a presidential campaign.

I'm tired of the sound bites, the endless picking apart over nothing, the endless stream of political loudmouths I'm sorry pundits who talk about nothing important, the focus on character rather than issues.......shall I go on?

I miss 6 week elections, having more than 2 parties to vote for, politicians willing to get on TV and poke fun at themselves, and debates on issues.

So yes, it's definitely the Canadian in me that is tired of this #######.

It's like when the Christmas music starts the day after Thanksgiving and plays until New Year's.

I'd take that a step further and say it's like when Christmas decorations/displays go up in late August (saw it with my own two eyes!) and stay up until after New Year's!

I love when people call or come to the door about all this political stuff. I just say "I'm Canadian. I can't vote." They either hang up on me or walk away. :)
