Inshallah, your wait will be short :)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

hi all:

I HAD MY INTERVIEW ON 20 OF AUGUST IN EGYPT & THE CO. LADY WAS SO NICE & SMOOTH BUT IN THE END OF THE INTERVIEW SHE SAID THAT MY VISA ISNT READY YET & GAVE ME BACK MY PASSPORT SAYING THEY WILL CONTACT ME TO SEND IT WHEN THE VISA IS READY.ALMOST 3WEAKS & NOTHING .ANY IDEA IF I SHOULD CALL OR WIAT ? ALSO IS THERE ANYWAY TO CHECK FOR MY VISA THROW INTERNET?ALSO HOW THEY WILL CONTACT ME THROW PHONE OR MAIL OR WHAT EXACTLY?ANY OPENION WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED THANKS ALOT.

Administrative processing can take anywhere from a few days to a few years....

There is no ability to status check on the internet

Depends on the embassy - The US embassy in Turkey has an AP clearance site which they update regularly with case numbers that have been cleared.

Unfortunately, Cairo is neither that kind or helpful. Sometimes it feels like they enjoy making us wait and keeping us in suspense. It would be so great just to have some sort of an idea of what's going on or where the visa is at in process.

Just got another response this morning from Cairo. Same ole thing "The case is pending administrative processing. We will contact you once that is completed." I really really hate that line! 2.5 months of this since the interview.

whats the number u call please . I HEARD NOTHING YET MAYBE I CAN GIVE IT A SHOOT

I call from the US, but assume you can use that number too. 2022-797-2200

I CALLED THEM A LOT & NO ANSWER JUST STUPID MESSAGE OF BUSY LINES & WAIT TO BE ANSWERED BUT NO MORE JUST WAITING TILL U GET BORED & CLOSE.

I have waited on hold with them up to over an hour before I gave up. They have taken anywhere from 5 minutes to answer to 45 minutes. Best time to call is between 1 and 2pm Cairo time. The closer to 4pm the busier they are. Don't give up!

A'salaamu Alaikum,

I believe you said they didn't keep your passport. This is not a good sign. My SO had his interview (same positive experience described by many) and didn't get his Visa for about 6 weeks (if I remember right) and they KEPT his passport. From reading the experiences of others on this group, not keeping the passport means they have a LOT of work to do in the AP process.

Administrative processing can take on MANY forms and cover MANY issues. The more suspicious they are of your relationship the more they may decide to investigate things to see if they are true. I kind of thought some of that was done BEFORE the interview, or would be hinted at IN the interview, but I was wrong. If you have a relationship that seems "unusual", huge age difference, engaged to your brother's wife's sister... (like the guy sitting next to my SO in the embassy in Cairo... who did NOT get to leave his passport)... they might drag it out for a LONG time.....

They didn't ask but a couple easy questions at the interview and then were bound and DETERMINED to prove that my SO was still married to his first wife.... getting that straighted out took a couple of weeks but Alhamdulillah we are finished and insha'allah he leaves for the USA on October 6th.

I faithfully emailed the embassy almost every week from the time he had his Packet #3 in the mail until he got the Visa. Most of the time they were responding within a week or so of my email. Not alot of information, but at least they responded.

Insha'allah you will get a better idea soon what the issue is that they are dealing with. But you won't find out (most likely) from the Embassy, you'll find out when their investigators (Egyptians) start showing up at your home or calling your family or asking the haris (bowab) about you and your life...

Best wishes, I hope I am wrong about everything and you get your answer very soon!

Yes, but they can review anything they want. They can come visit your home, your parent's home, friends' homes, and ask questions about your relationship - how does your family feel about your spouse, your life together, etc. etc. Remember, USCIS/DOS are supposed to have the best interest of the USA in mind when they process all applications. If they have one iota of feeling that there are issues of fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation, they will investigate further and approve/deny based on what they find. Now, I'm not saying this will happen to you, as it has only been 2-3 weeks since your interview. my thoughts to you is to stay in contact with the embassy - call them every couple of weeks or email them. But do not pester them, as they have been known to let cases just hang there because someone called them all the time - at least that was the case with the IOs @ USCIS.

This is just my two cents.

Best of luck to you!

Its hard to say about the passport thing, they kept my now husbands for 9 months..... To try and figure out the hows and whys of the Cairo embassy are very difficult

and home visits have become quite common and it does matter to them how your family feels about the relationship.

Amen to that... and that is just WRONG keeping someone's passport for 9 months! UGH! Did you ever get a clue of why they doubted you or what their "red flag" was????

Our "mistake" was using my MIL's address for all correspondence with them in Egypt. My SO goes to her house every single day and often spends the night there, but has a flat that he shares with other single guys that he also stays at. When they came to my MIL's house my SIL was visiting her and the guy guessed that she was his ex-wife because he asked the guard downstairs if my SO was divorced and the guard said he didn't know (wasn't talking to a stranger) he then asked if his ex ever visited the building and the guard said yes so he assumed my SIL was the ex and tried to force her to admit it! (UGH, what nonsense!) My SO wasn't there at the time so he only got to speak to this genius from the Embassy who took down his address at his flat, and the address of his ex-wife and then we had to wait for him to come back to Alex a 2nd time to check it out AGAIN.

Oh well, it's over now...

Well in a home visit they questiond to his mom about if she knew I was divorced, had two kids and that I was older than her son. He went as far as to say if she did'nt approve of this engagement just to give him the word!!! Well the truth is she liked me and blessed our realationship. I had met her on three trips to Egypt and met all of he family. So My best thought is this was the red flag for them :crying: my god it was like 9 months of living in saddness. I am so happy to finaly have my husband here and being able to live our life together. I feel blessed!!!
