I am almost ready for the K1-interview in Frankfurt, my fiancé's parents signed an affidavit of support for me as my fiancé is a currently a student and doesn't make enough for the both of us.

I read the VJ-guide for the I-134 and in the FAQ for the I-134 I found this statement:

The US fiance is ALWAYS the primary sponsor, but may have a co-sponsor. If there is a co-sponsor, both the

US fiance and the co-sponsor will EACH have to fill out the affidavit I-134 or I-864 and EACH will have to provide

supporting documentation.

However, on the Frankfurt consulate's instructions about what evidence to present --> http://germany.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/vis...heet_-i-134.pdf

I can't find any information that says anything about the fiancé having to be the primary sponsor. However in all the threads everybody seems to have co-sponsors if the fiancé's income isn't sufficient.

Does anybody have experience with presenting form I-134 only from one sponsor, that sponsor not being the fiancé? Or does it say in any official consulate information that other persons such as in-laws can only co-sponsor?

Thank you very much for any advice on the matter!

The fiance -USC or spouse- is ALWAYS the primary sponsor. The instructions on the form are clear as you stated in your post. Your parents can absolutely be co-sponsors of course.

Thank you for your response. I actually cannot find the information that the US-fiancé has to be the primary sponsor anywhere but in the VJ-guidelines. I would like to see where the USCIS or the consulate states that the US-fiancé is always the primary sponsor, not to proof anybody wrong but to see if I really have to get another affidavit (from my fiancé).

Let me put it this way. Your inlaws cannot petition for you. The petitioner is your fiancee. The inlaws can be co-sponsors or joint-sponsors only. It's called a fiancee visa, not a daughter in law visa.

Cosponsors are used when the primary sponsor (in this case the petitioner) doesn't currently qualify as sponsor. If the potential rubber ever hits the road, the government first comes to the primary sponsor for reimbursement for the beneficiary becoming a public charge.

I just wanted to mention that after email contact with the embassy I went in with only the affidavit of my future in-laws and it was absolutely no problem, visa approved. It's different with the AOS-affidavit. Still, thank you for your responses, this website is really helpful.
