Hello everyone,

I desperately need some help. My fiancee had her interview this morning. Everything was going fine until they asked her where she and I first met, and she told them honestly that it was at the Osho Meditation center in Pune. Just happened to be where we first saw each other, not a big deal, right? Wrong! They freaked out. Apparently the Osho center has a bad reputation in India from the 70's when it was a really different place. But she and I have been together for 3 years, we've been in each others countries for the majority of that time, and our relationship is really stable and positive.

Anyway, they told her that we need to send some more pictures and more evidence of our having met, even though we provided A TON. Plane tickets, emails, visa stamps, pictures, etc. etc. So I think they're just buying time. They said they'll get back to us 8-15 days after they receive the additional materials. Has anyone ever heard of this?

What should I do? I'm going to write them a letter about how serious we are and how much we love each other for my fiancee to submit with the additional materials. Is there anything else I should do?

Thank you!!!

Bad reputation for what?

The cannot (or are not suppose to) re-adjudicate the petition as to "face to face" meeting... they must now simply have a question as to the bonafides...

YMMV

What do you mean by bonafides exactly? That we really want to marry each other? From what I understand, the Osho center has a bad reputation because people used to do drugs there in like the 70's. Nowadays, if someone even mentions drugs there, they are banned for life, so it's a really different place. People still have a really negative impression about it in India though. My relatives warned me about it, but what I found when I got there was just a place to do meditation. Nothing crazy.

Thank you..

bonafides = real relationship

Moved = your question was better suited to be answered in a different forum..

People filing fraudulent fiance(e) visa petitions also "really want to get married" too. Interpret bona fide relationship to mean "real relationship" and don't confuse wedding or married with "relationship".

Wow, that is aweful, I'm so sorry for the delay. It could have just brought up a red flag for them, due to the misconception that the meditation center has to do with drugs. I imagine that if they can't find a solid suspicion that your fiance uses drugs, though, or any other reason to deny you, they won't be able to do it just because they are biased against the meditation center. Right now they are probably just looking a little more closely at all your evidence, but in the end you should be fine, it may just take an extra two weeks or so. Think positive!!! Hope all goes well.
