Hi, what do people generally use for evidence that bona fides the marriage? Since I have a foreign spouse, i don't have a joint property or lease. Can affidavit be from non-US citizens who were present at the wedding? Alternatively, can the affidavit be from US citizens if they were not present at the wedding?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

It is important to let us know what stage of the process you are in as the answer would be very different...

No, they don't. Read very carefully and interpret literally, then read some of this.

Read this carefully.

NOTE: In addition to the required documentation listed above, you should submit one or more of the following types of documentation that may evidence that bona fides of your marriage:

and...

J. Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an ongoing marital union.

You would need items to show that your relationship is for real as there is an ongoing relationship, not just a wedding/marriage.

Items such as, airline tickets showing you have visited your wife.

Passport pages showing you went to her country.

Phone records, emails, letters, receipts of flowers sent.... bascially anthing to show that your relationship is for real and not just a procedure to simply get your woman into the U.S.

Sent I-130 to TSC

Received NOA1 from CSC with a date of 8/15/06

6-13-08 called NVC, CR1 is complete, sent RFE for CR2. returned to NVC, waitn on result

6-26-08 case complete/approved. Waiting to be transferred to U.S. Embassy in Guangzhou, China for interview date

anything to prove that ur marriage is legit and the woman that u r bringing over is not just anyone but ur spouse. affidavits are sent by a lot of people and they are a good way to prove that u have a relationship. its hard to gather financial information especially if u have been married only a month or so..u can send pictures to prove ur marriage. i have checked all of the above with USCIS.

also, i wudnt focus on posts that state that u dont need any documentation of such sort...dont go by speculations..go by facts that USCIS requires...what worked for someone else, may not neccessarily work for you....so make sure u include some documentation..its a requirement according to USCIS. better safe than sorry!

Except it's not a requirement. Nothing wrong with submitting some evidence of bona fides but for newlyweds who have never lived in the same country, affidavits from people who witnessed a ceremony or attended a party don't provide evidence the "relationship" not the "wedding" are bona fide. Things from the "other" category like a few pictures and some evidence of visits would be fine.

i am sorry but i disagree on this. government issued affidavits for newly weds or people who have been married for a long time is the same. marriage is an institution widely accepted as a relationship. marriage/wedding = relationship. what other proof will USCIS accept to justify a relationship for a newly wed? affidavit is  USCIS has confirmed that. i wud go for it!

Carefully read the instructions again and you'll see everything in the "should include one or more of the following..." list is "in addition to the required...." so actually suggested, not required.
