Crossposted from K3 forum.

We have originally filed for a K3 visa. Both I130 and I129F were approved at the same time.

For the K3 visa, I have a piece of paper from NVC with the K3 case number, basically a notice that case was sent forward to Moscow embassy.

For the CR1 visa, we got a diff case number, and we've already sent everything but DS-230 in.

I just checked the embassy website and we already have the interview date set for late October, under the K3 case number. Assuming that everything goes smoothly with CR1 papers, what is it that I need to do in order to have the K3 interview changed to CR1 interview on the same date? I read that this is a common practice.

Do we have to fill out any paperwork that's sent to us by embassy itself, for the K3 visa?

Thanks,

Andrei

Nothing can happen until the I-130 petition gets to Moscow.

Once it does, get in touch with the consulate in Moscow received and make your wishes known.

Otherwise delay your K-3 interview until the petition gets there...

YMMV

We're getting ready to send in DS-230 this week, so we have 1.5 months to get everything approved and sent to Moscow, so I'm hoping that I130 will get there in time. Once that happens Moscow should replace the interview if we wish so, right?

I'm surprised they have setup the interview date already, this is somewhat not in line with the K3 guide timeline.

1) they should not care because the interview is the same... the petition file they use and the end result visa that is issued is the only difference

2) since each consulate does there own thing there is no way the "guides" could anticipate or begin to document everything... You would need more than 140 K-3 consulate guides.

Once your CR1 is approved. Contact the embassy and let them know you wish for your K3 interview date to be for the CR1, and they will change it over. This is what I did, and there were no problems.

Do we need to keep the communication with Moscow embassy open and reply to their correspondence in order to keep our interview spot? If they send us DS3032 for K3 do we need to fill it out again?

There is no DS3032 for the I29F process.

This was just an example. K3 guide says "Embassy will mail the packet, some have to be filled out immediately and sent back, some have to be brought to the interview".

I'm guessing we don't have to do anything, and besides we haven't received any embassy paperwork yet anyway.
