Hello all -

We are sending in our paperwork soon and I was wondering how people have sent in photos. All of my photos are digital and I was planning on printing them out 4 to a page. I was planning on sending in 3 sheets (about 12 photos). My question is have people just sent the photos in without descriptions or dates, or do you need to date them... I have them "titled and dated" now and was just wondering what the norm might be.

Thanks!

Merp

We sent ours in last month and I did include pictures. I am a scrapbooker. I take pictures and scrap them regularly. I color copied my pages and included them from events the last 2 years.

I just printed them out at home, several to a page, then actually cut them into individual photos and attached them in the package where they fit for example - travel tickets to visit Joe's family and put photos with his family there; travel tickets to visit my family and put photos with my family there; etc. I wrote on the back where each one was, who each person was, and the date it was taken.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I included pictures that I organized on a page using Microsoft Publisher and typed little captions with names and dates.

--from our wedding

Like Kathryn, I put them in amongst other relevant evidence.

I think a few pictures spanning the length of your marriage is a good idea, IMHO. :)

Cassie - I have done the same thing, seems to be an organized way. I will tuck them in with other evidence as it matches and then have some extra family photos.

Thanks everyone for the guidence!

You only need Passport style photos if you reside overseas with the military or government orders - look at part 5 of the I-751 form, it will explain who needs to send them.

IMO you will probably need more photos than just passport style photos you show you have been doing "married" things for the last 2 years.

I taped 2-3 pictures on each sheet of paper, then added a brief caption. I didn't put dates because I don't remember all of them.

I sent so many pictures, but mainly because I have extra copies from taking advantage of a promo, and because I enjoyed putting them together. That was the funnest part of putting together our application.

Hi Merp,

For my situation, I sent in 16 photos (4-6 per year, covering 2 years or so). With clear tape, I stuck two photos on eight sheets of standard sized (8x11) paper. The following was written in pen underneath each photo: date, season, event, location/place. I printed the photos from my digital camera at a photo machine in Walmart (as I didn't have a printer then to print them from my computer), and sent in these printed out photo-quality copies of the photos....

:D ...for the camera! I can't believe how many photos were taken over the last 2 years of my husband and I together and I said, "Wouldn't this photo look nice to send in for the immigration folks?" Glad though, that I got that done and over and sent in recently. Still, that doesn't stop the camera from taking photos us with our :D faces (though we can be more relaxed in our photos as we don't have to worry about sending in immigration photos of us together anymore)....

Hope this helps. Good luck on your immigration journey.

Ant (:D for the camera...)

I have one of those binder-style photo albums, so I just removed several pages from that album and stuck my photos onto them, also attaching a label under or next to each picture describing the occasion and approximate date. Not sure if this format is preferred by USCIS but I found it the easiest way to put everything together.

I printed 4 pictures in one ordinary bond paper (sent 3 pages) and didn't put the date coz' there are dates already on the pictures, I just made sure that the pictures I sent (together and some with family and friends) covered since we got married up to the latest.

The plastic page will probably get thrown out, unless they can punch holes in it to keep in the folders they use.

You have a point there. I am recalling now that when I sent my fiance petition three years ago, I also used the same type of photo album pages, but I attached a small strip of cardboard to the top of each one so that it could be hole-punched. Hopefully USCIS will have pity on me and not take all my photos apart.

If I had a color printer at home, I would probably have gone with one of the other methods mentioned in this thread -- they definitely seem neater and easier to package.

I made copies of certain pictures at walmart and bought cheap photo album filler pages. I took 2 pics from each event, put them on the page and hand wrote the event and the month and year. Most of the pictures had date stamps on them anyways. I binder cliped it all together and put it at the end of my package. I got my package sent back for a form problem and they had just hole punched the tops of the picture pages and added it to the back of my package. They also added my fedex envelope package to the back as well.
