Who is blaming 9/11??? ....it was simply a reference that in the bigger picture of things...my wait is small compared to the bigger picture of things........just something comforting while I also wait for the security checks...but I would rather wait than give everyone a greenlight with no checks at all........my point only...........

To me it's just something we can all debate about- I don't think these comments are made to make you feel bad or because people are angry towards you, just interesting to see how people think and how everyone is different. It also gives us a reason to argue and who the hell doesn't love that! My favorite passtime!

Exactly. Assuming that everyone believes in your god is one of my pet peeves. I never miss an opportunity to mention it when I see it and point out how rude it is to make such an assumption.

It's good for turning people's attention away from the original post too, which is a post guaranteed to piss people off and get the OP blasted.

Gets the frustration out of the system, too.

It's just a very sensitive subject. As I said, your heart was in the right place, and I can so appreciate that you were trying to provide comfort.

Coming from where I do- what I see everyday as a New Yorker, as well as a woman who has spent 9 days with my husband since November-I just have a different opinion on things.

I am off to bed, but I wish you a good night and can appreciate what you tried to convey.

someone correct me if I'm wrong but I have a vague recollection of a couple of 9/11 hijackers receiving visa approvals (or some sort of immigration status approvals) in the mail AFTER 9/11... anyone else remember that ??? I for one worry more about getting hit by a drunk driver than a terrorist attack ... whatever the "big picture" is - I am getting tired of all the waiting involved with this process and would like to get on with my life like any other American living in this country.

While I like the ideal of a safer America................I could never understand why it has taken over six months (and still waiting) for immigration to "validate information received at interview". We have not even had any security checks ordered in these six months of waiting. Im sorry folks, but Im beyond the point of believing that this wait is making the U S safer for all. You see I'm a few years older than my fiance, and divorced, and Im more convinced this wait is more about trying to disprove our relationship than it is about protecting our country.

Well I for one did not see anything wrong with the orignial post. The fact of the matter is, and if you don't want to believe it thats fine, since 9/11 certain countries have faced more security checks, longer waits, and more scrutiny. I am one of those that has been affected by this. My interview date is in February of NEXT YEAR. Do I like waiting...no, not at all. Have I accepted it, yes.

I think people here love to dig deep into what is written and over-analyze. I am an arab-american, and know many arabs and arab-americans that have been impacted by 9/11 in one way or another so with all due respect, please don't pass off 9/11 as if it was no big deal. Thousands of people died, and the effects of that attack are still being felt all over country and the world, especially in immigration.

God forbid that any other attack take place here or anywhere else, but if an attack were to happen in the USA again the first thing people would do is blame immigration. I don't think IMBRA addresses these points, but the long waits do in certain places of the world. I don't like the extra security checks my fiance has to deal with one bit, but where he comes from (which is the same place as me) things are not that organized. Things are not centralized or computerized. Getting information is like pulling teeth. So if we have to wait an extra few months to ensure that they are doing the best job they can, so be it.
