The Republican National Convention has given John McCain and his party a significant boost, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken over the weekend shows.

...

In the new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples.

So..it included 63 people who are not registered to vote, but refers to these people as those most likely to vote? Hmm... should be an interesting "election".

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Registration deadlines are in the future.
Sure. But I would hardly include those who have not already registered to vote in the group of people who are most likely to vote. That's like saying those who have never been knocked up are most likely to get knocked up. Hell, maybe they are, I dunno - but it seems counter-intuitive.

How was the poll conducted? IMHO, I think telephone polls are very suspect this time out. They traditionally are conducted from landline directories. How many people have dropped (or never got) landlines in the past five years? Plenty; and they tend to be younger. I think this could easily result in an undercount of Obama supporters.

I'm still convinced that McCain is going to win. I can't vote of course - so really this election has little more than a passing interest to me, since I really have no investment in it.

I'm not convinced that McCain will. If he does, however, I wouldn't be surprised. It all depends on where you get your information from.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I go back and forth between despair and "hope", if you know what I mean. I've seen the big lie work one too many times to be too confident.
