Just a side note.. "

Please remember that if you decide to try or use a form of alternative care... it is not like western medications.. that gives you a instant "drug fix"

the Naet treatment is rather extensive.. it take alot of committment on both parties.

To first diagnose what is the cause of the allergen.. then to desenstize the person to not react to the problem item.

I personally have alot of seasonal allergies.. I have at my office.. which I swear by.. a homeopathic formula that is called a allersode. It is catered to the region of the country where the person is in.. for me.. pacific NW.. in it is homeopathic tincture containing minute properties of the pollens in this area. ie .. ash cottonwood ryegrasses wood smoke etc.. when I go to Calif I use a SW allersode. I react totally different here in Portland to all the trees and grasses than I did in California... here in Oregon .. my eyes water .and swell.. no sneezing or coughing.. .. in California.. I cant be at my parents for a day.. (palmsprings) without having sneezing fits.. .. I carry the allersode.. which i simply squirt a droperfull in my mouth.. when i go outside.. and i ususally head off a spell... .. but.. I might add.. it has taken about two years to totally not respond to the majority of products in the air here in Portland..... unless of course it is a major cottonwood bloom going on.

With Naet you have to stick to a rather strick diet.. and .. be treated rather often to get past the sensitivities.. well worth it.. if that is the choice.

better to get the body to respond to a substance in a positive way ... not in a negitive way as is the allergy response.

Homeopathics ... and naet and...many alternative treatments .. will introduce slowly small quantities of the allergen.. in order for the body not to respond in a histamine response.

hope some of this helps .. best of luck with your choice

thanks, thing is i don't actually know what it is i'm alergic to, i have one or two suspitions, but its not obvious, like my mum with hay fever, which i don't have. so really my first goal is to find the cause then, treat it if i can.

You could always go to an allergist first and he or she will give you the allergy test on your arm.You come out of it with a "junkie arm" but at least you know what your allergic to.

hmmm yeh thing is will the nurserefer me or book me for this or fob me off and should i be doing that right before i'm going to have my medical? plus i hate needles so if there is a way to work them out with out stabbing me i'm all for that.

They're not actually needles, they are these small stamp like things with little prickly things on them.

yeh i've had to have that on my wrist for the tb jab they give in uk. they do the round itchy irritaating thing before they scewer you with the massive sharp thing that hurt like hell.

thats what i thought. i'm just conffussed because the person who goes to her is a very smart person, and that this lady was employed to do whatever she does by our local hospital. hmmm maybe i'll just ask our nurse about an alergen test how ever they do it.

Your confusion is just about what "intelligence" means. Human beings are not rational beings and because of this they have been susceptible to these things throughout our existence on the planet. Being intelligent doesn't mean that you always choose to use it or always make rational choices. It means you may have a higher potential to do it, but even a brief look around you or through the newspaper should convince you that the "intelligent" are not immune to irrational behavior.

You're wondering if the fact that you have observed an intelligent person making an irrational choice should effect your decision on whether to make a rational or irrational choice. I would suggest that you can choose whether to act rationally or irrationally without needing any role model. Just choose what works best for you in this situation. I tend to find that rational choices work out best, but you may disagree. Either way, no other person's decision on rationality is relevant to your choice.

If you do decide to make a rational choice, ask the person for at least 2 reasonably well controlled studies that validate the technique they are using. If you actually receive 2 references and you aren't good at evaluating data, ask a friend who is to look at the studies. More likely, you'll receive marketing materials, similar to what's been posted here about Kinesiology and NAET, that makes no reference to any source that validates their technique and makes bizarre references to human physiology that they hope you won't think too deeply about. The effectiveness of a technique does not rest on whether one can imagine a possible mechanism for its effectiveness. Plenty of seemingly logical tests and therapies have fallen by the wayside when well controlled studies showed they were actually useless.

This is not medical advice: it is just general info on allergy testing. The most strongly supported form of allergy testing is skin testing. It has the highest correlation to actual symptoms. It may not be so good for food allergies. The alternative is RAST testing or measuring specific IgE levels to specific antigens. There is a significant rate of false positives or of positives that don't correlate to symptoms if the person is challenged with the substance.

The most difficult to diagnose are food allergies. The most reliable way is avoidance and challenge and it can be tedious. RAST testing can help you decide what to try avoiding. If a person has a chronic condition like eczema it can take 2 or 3 months of complete avoidance for the immune system to settle down and the skin to heal. Naturally, people want a faster option. We don't have a faster technique that has proven its reliability.

If your choice is to go for an irrational choice, I'm sure there are others who could help with that much better than I. ;)
