Does my wife need to mail original birth certificate for DS230?

Hello,

Since I'm the choice of agent for my wife who I m petitioning for in India, I've received the intruction packet for the DS-230. My wife only has 1 copy of her original birth certificate, and in order to complete the DS230, does she have to mail her original birth certificate to the NVC, or can she send a notorized copy?? Thanks so much!

My husband and I mailed an official (government issued) copy with our DS 230 packet. It had all the appropriate seals and signatures from Ecuador and it was accepted.

Also, at the interview we're all supposed to receive these documents that we mailed in (birth & marriage certificates).

Yes she does. I got a whole month delay becoz of an RFE for an original birth certificate.

yes she nees to send an original BC , I did send them the english version of my BC even though it had all the stamps from the ministry but nvc did send me RFE they wanted the original BC even though it was in a foreign language

would that be the same as the marriage certificate needing to be orig i have read some did orig some did copy will be needing to find correct answer for myself soon

I think people are over doing it. Copy of the orignal documnet is more than enough. If your languge for example is arabic, then they will need the arabic verision not the engilish one. Come on people please do not let our life more hard.

I sent my wife to municipality of her birth place and she was able to get about three copies of her birth certificate. All copies had second copy stamp from the issuing agency of her original birth certificate. NVC requires certified copy of original from the same issuing agency for DS-230.

I think people are over doing it. Copy of the orignal documnet is more than enough. If your languge for example is arabic, then they will need the arabic verision not the engilish one. Come on people please do not let our life more hard.

translations.

The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states

that the:

• Translation is accurate, and

• Translator is competent to translate.

this however does not mean you only submit the translation, you need to submitted the translated form too.

i have heard both sides, on the marriage certificate, some sent originals, some made copies why else would they tell you originals will be returned at interview if you askl

WHY? The interview appears like it will be in Poland and the official language there is Polish, no?

Guess im still asleep, but Arabic is the langauge in morocco and we still translated with the k1 am i just not getting it yet until i have another coffee ha anything going to a american embassy not in english i thought always had to be translated
