My Fiance arrive here on July 9th this year. We were married On august 23rd. I have some questions for the AOS. When we fill out the paperwork do we use my last name for the family name, or her old last name? Also what does the A# mean? Do we apply for a social securtiy number before we do this paperwork, or after we start this? I have had people tell me many different things, so i figure id would come here to ask the experts. I thnak you all for the response in advance, hope everyone is doing well here.

When we fill out the paperwork do we use my last name for the family name, or her old last name? This is a personal preference - if you do plan to/have-already change(d) names - file the AOS under the name you want to use

Also what does the A# mean? A number means Alien Registration number - it will be on your NOA2

Do we apply for a social securtiy number before we do this paperwork, or after we start this? Having a Social Security Card/Number is not a requirement for AOS.

you use her new last name which is your last name..

A# is the alien number, if u look at her passport..

it's the red number on the lower right part of her visa..

for ssn she can get ssn within 76 days from her arrival..

otherwise, you have to wait til she has her ead..

You can't see it in the passport and it's not the red number that number is non immigrant. See sample
