Thinking of buying printer/copier...limited use, lower price, easy to set up and use, any ideas what would fit the bill

why that is the brand i see alot of????

we bought a Lexmark printer.. mind you it was one of the cheap models for like 30 bucks and it went through ink really quick and the ink cost about 50 bucks to replace...

but then we bought a cheap HP printer for about the same price and the ink lasts way longer and it only costs about 20 bucks to replace...

oh and hubby's brother bought one of those fancy all-in-one photosmart HP printers, and we used it do do their mom's funeral programs (over 100) and a tonne of other stuff and we only had to replace the yellow cartridge.. it had 6 cartridges alltogether).. the cartridges cost about 30 to 40 bucks for 6 plus you got 150 photo pages...

it's all about the ink... you want a printer that doesn't go through it quick and one where the ink doesn't cost and arm and a leg to replace...

I bought a Canon iP1800 printer from Walmart. Cost me about $50 and so far gives me the best print of any "cheap" printer I ever had. The ink that comes with it seems to last a long time also.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Does this printer print out good quality digital photos? This is what I'm looking for in a printer. My HP 1210v does a crappy job of it and I buy HP ink. I've heard Epson does a very good job with digitals too.

if you want a printer that prints good pics, I think you need to get a photosmart one... my brother-in-law has one and the picture quality was really good...

like this one.... with most of these you can insert the memory card right into the printer

Well.....ya see.....

Mags and I actually use an Oki colour laser printer now, and it blows anything else away that I've used (aside from the pro-model printers when I was a graphic designer).

For serious photo use - in an ink jet - I would concur with what you've heard...go for an Epson.

Mine makes very good digital prints. Not as good as a professional one but for a few one-off pics it does very well. If I have more than a few pics I want printed I use Walgreens. I like the idea that I can send to their web site and have them printed at any walgreens anywhere in the country. The cost is also much less vs printing at home. Ink is just too expensive for home printers. It's a real racket IMO.

Hadn't thought about that...Walgreens that is. Might have to give that some thought. :)
