Ok so my cousin just called me up from home and started freakin out that I have at least 5 rapists living in a close vacinity of my place. I guess on Mondays Dr. Phil there was a show on sexual predators and it provided a webpage where anyone can go and type in their addy and have a map showing where these people live, where they work, etc. So how many live by you?

In our little town there are several...some say this type of information isn't fair to the one listed. I say we have the right to know where they are. We have a small daughter...the kind these predators love to prey on. Believe me...our daughter is very precious to us...NO ONE will dare lay a hand on her. If one of them were to even attempt to touch our daughter they would have the wrath of a Southern Woman and one very protective Canadian on his/her hands.

I hear you Karen. We should be allowed to know where they are. We all have the right to safety and want to be safe. They brought it upon themselves if they claim they don't see it as fair as being listed.

Actually its not such a hot idea, as a British tabloid newspaper discovered a few years back. They printed a series of articles revealing a list of registered sex offenders, together with photos and their approximate addresses.

Ended up causing quite a bit of violence - several people with no history of sex offences but who looked similar, or had a similar name ended up being targetted.

I hope people don't get lulled into a false sense of safety knowing where they are. Those are only the registered ones. There are way more who have never even been put on radar.
