During this week, my wife's AOS case date has been updated 2wice online. We had the interview on this past February. We went to the charlotte sub office to find out the latest on our case. They told us that it is in the FBI name check.

Is the updated date online indicative of my wife getting her greencard soon? Does it mean that our case is being touched?

Because we are trying to go back home (Iran)on June 7th and we already have gotten AP document. We are on our way to Washington D.C. to get transit visa for my wife. Should I wait another week and see what happens?

Please let me know something asap, thank you.

Just hang in there. I'm not implying anything by this but your wife is from Iran and that in its self may be causing the delay. Obviously, foreign relations b/w the US and Iran are strained if not non-existence to say the least. This may be causing the “authorities” to give her a closer look and cauing the delay. Just a thought. Just out of curiosity, are you a USC? If so, what did you have to do to travel to Iran?

Thank you for the kind words. Bamdame, although I am a USC (a u.s. born citizen), my parents are Iranian and I myself lived in Iran the first 12 years of my life. I have an Iranian and a U.S. passport. So for me traveling to Iran is not a problem. I knew that being from Iran my cause a delay on her gc. I just hope that all of these touchings of her case in the past week or so after a year of inactivity is a step in the right direction.

Interesting. Did your parents immigrate before the Shah was overthrown? I assume you use your Iranian passport to enter Iran…yes…no? My father was in Iran during the late 70s and got out just prior to the embassy be seized? Can believe that was 25 years ago already.

For your plight, it may be things were happening in the system (stuff that the USCIS/DOH do that we don’t know about) and it just took time to resolve, since your paperwork has been noticed lately, it may just be a matter of a short time later. Have you called the nation service center or done an infopass? How did your interview go in Charlotte? Any words of advice for the Charlotte office?

Bamdame

About 2 months after I was born in U.S., my parents went back to Iran. I lived there unitl I was 12 years old. This was around 1986, after the revolution. Those were horrible times. The last memory I have from school in Iran is a bomb from an Iraqi jet hitting near my school. That was the last straw and we decided to move to the states. So, yes I do use my Iranian passport whenever I go back to Iran.

We did make an infopass couple of weeks ago and were told that our case is still in the name check process and no one knows how long it will take for this process to finish.

As far as the interview goes, our interviewing officer in Charlotte was a Korean. My wife and I had a very hard time understanding what the man was asking us during the interview. However, it was the normal things such as, Utility bills, Bank Statement, Medical checkup documentation through civil surgeon and a few questions from my wife which everyone answers no to.

After that, the officer told us that he will give the documents to his supervisor to look at and will let us know. However, this was back in February, and we still dont know what is going on. Hopefully these touches in the last week or so are positive signs.

As far as advice, just take all the documents that are required and listed on your NOA and believe me you will be just fine. Since you are from Canada, I am pretty sure the process for you will be alot less stressful.

I'm sure that time was awful. Did you always live in Teran?

On a side note, what is the "climate" now in Iran? It is my opinion that Iran has become substantially “westernized” when compared to 15-20 years ago. Have you seen a change in this since the election of Iran’s new president? What do people (young and old) say about the US today? Are you treated any differently, being from the US?

Any updates?

Oh, my wife is from Canada, I hope this process is easier. It still kills me how much work is involved, yet alone the financial side of the whole thing.
