I have been apart from my husband for 6 months because I had to finish my last 5 months of school in the US to get my B.A. I filed our I-130 beginning of April and just filed my I-129--however, i can't take this ####### anymore...I will be back with him in Belize June 21st-July 25th which is the longest I can stay b/c I need to get a full-time job for the affadavit of support....

I am torn because I wanted him to see a bit of my culture and so we could save money in the US (double the dollars in Belize) and then move back to Belize...but now I feel like saying #### it all and just staying in Belize--i'm just a bit afraid of living hand-to-mouth like we would be doing in Belize because as it stands we both have no money right now...

I just feel discouraged, mainly because there is no time certainty, no ending in sight and that is killing us...we feel like we are putting ourselves through un-necessary torture in some ways...

My question is....say I just stay down in Belize for longer than planned...how long can we let our K-3 and I-130 sit without taking the next steps? We may still want to continue with it in a year but we just want to be together now...HELP! :crying:

I once asked the embassy in Ankara a question similar to your last. I was told that they could hold the I-130 for quite a while. As for the k-3, I never quite got a definitive answer to that (or don't quite recall).....but I would expect not as long as the I-130.

It is tough ....as everyone else on these forums have attested to. And similar to that previous reply, I too have had the occasional "crying" phone call when I speak to my wife, because the time we have to endure all this is pretty awful, and been much tougher on her. It's actually been a year and a few months separated, with almost a year to go. (she was here on a J-1). I suppose the fortunate part for us is that I met her and married her when she was here in the USA, (as a student) and we actually lived together etc....like a normal couple for nearly a year, before circumstances forced us to make a decision for her to go back. At least we had that time to be together. We have also been able to visit each other (expensive as that may be  ) several times, sometimes for a month or more. In that sense I suppose we are more fortunate than some others on this forum.

Still , It IS very hard as you know. And I myself have even spent some time previously looking for a job in Turkey so I could be with her during these two years. I had a few offers, but none that paid as well and were as stable as what I have here in the US.

So...that's what the bottom line is. You HAVE to do what is best for the both of you in the long run. It is so tempting to just give up and go be with your spouse. I am sure nearly everyone here has thought of it at one time or another. But, you have to do what will be best for you both down the road. I came back, and remained here in the US, because no job offer was good enough. It is a matter of being torn between wanting to be with my wife, and trying to remain strong and making the tough decisions that will benefit us both down the road.

And that was to stay here and keep my job here......and wait it out until that one day she can come back for good.

This whole process sucks.........(especially even more aggravating when I hear each day how our government is more concerned with helping illegals....than those of us who are doing it right  ).............but you just have to ride it out and stay tough.
