Reliability of online change of address

Over Labor Day weekend I moved into a new apartment. On August 30 I submitted an online change of address request at the USCIS website for my pending I-130 and I-129F. Several weeks before that, I also made arrangements with the U.S. Postal Service to have all my mail forwarded to my new address. Here are my questions:

1) How reliable is the USCIS online change-of-address system? My experience with private companies (e.g., banks, credit card issuers) is that providing change-of-address information online is more reliable than calling up a person because you're more likely to enter the information correctly yourself. However, at another immigration website one woman mentioned that she submitted an online change of address 2 months before receiving her NOA2, and her NOA2 was STILL sent to the wrong address.

2) Related to (1) above is the fact that my I-130 was transferred from VSC to CSC on August 22. Although I hate to speculate, it's somewhat likely that my I-130 will be approved in the next 1 to 2 weeks. Based on others' experiences, is that enough time for my change of address to be processed? What happens if my NOA2 is sent to my previous address? My understanding is that USCIS instructs the Post Office not to forward any mail.

I did online change of address, worked fine. Few days or a week later saw a touch in system, and another week later received a mail notice of address change, mailed to my new address.

So I guess you should expect same.

MathMan, I see you had apply both I129 and I130 and your case are transfered from VSC to CSC, had you ask for it or?

Hey cris11,

I didn't ask for the transfer, and in fact was very surprised when it happened. My I-130 got transferred to CSC, but my I-129F stayed at VSC. I'm guessing that VSC is going to administratively close my I-129F so that I'll be forced to pursue a CR-1 visa, but that's just conjecture on my part.

I've seen one other poster (VJ name: Garu) who was a K-3 filer at VSC and had just the I-130 transferred to CSC. As far as I know, we're the only K-3 filers at VJ who have been transferred.

I also changed mine on August 30th and I just received confirmation of my change of address about a week ago. Also, I received no touches during this time. So there really is no way of knowing until they send you the letter saying it has been processed.
