SSN is a federal benefit so the process is the same in NC as it is in Ca

Look to the NC DMV website for DL information... Just about everything you want to know is on the web and you can use google to find a lot of it

Durham city will have a website too that probably has a new resident section

YMMV

Welcome, welcome!

Check here to find the SS office near you. Your fiance will most likely know where it is. You can also download the form beforehand. You will probably not be able to get a driver's license until you have either your EAD or your GC. NC-DMV requires proof of immigration status but they will not accept the NOA. Perhaps you can try with your I-94 and see if they will issue a DL even if it expires in a few months.

Good luck and welcome again. We have a growing number of Filipinas coming to NC and a lot are in the Durham/Raleigh/Cary area.

After she took her Learner's Permit, three months after that she took the Road test and was given a driver's license. With the SSN, she went to the SSN office, brought her marriage license, passport with I-94 in it and after two to three weeks she got it in the mail.

i intend to get my SSN and DL in my maiden name because my fiance will not be able to get back to the states until january because of his current deployment. so i am bound to stay at NC from nov until january.. so will i be able to process my SSN and DL just by showing them my visa?
