They don't deserve the death penalty, and I say this because I am quite opposed to the death penalty, but they deserve more than 100 hours of community service.
I think that for their community service, they should be allowed to roam the neighborhoods and rid them of loose cats, using whatever mechanism they deem fit. Many people would greatly appreciate having such a service in their community.

For the record, the cruelty of the sh!tfukcs in the original post made me ill. The reactions of a few here explain a lot. I now understand why they say some of the things they say.

Yes. And it's not "just a cat."

Yes, I am passing judgment. 16 year olds know right from wrong. They know torture is wrong.

They know leaving a dead cat in the microwave with a note to the family is going to cause suffering and pain.

Their sentence was a joke.

They don't deserve the death penalty, and I say this because I am quite opposed to the death penalty, but they deserve more than 100 hours of community service. They should be in counseling.

Or working all day cleaning up cat and dog poop in a shelter (but not near the animals).

Sick f@cks.

Canada has been known to go lightly, by U.S. standards (which I consider unreasonable in most cases), but thankfully they are their own country and have a rational reason behind their sentencing. Also, the judgmental part is just shown in your post. 16 year olds may or may not know right from wrong. This is taught to them, and as we know not all parents are equal when it comes to teaching their kids things, and not all kids can be taught equally. This is why, when discussing the incident, I left open the options of psychiatric care, but the reasoning behind it is hard to determine. Nonetheless, even not knowing, your post is a classic example of people jumping up on their pedestal and looking down on another, completely ignoring anything they've done is likely going to be construed by another person as offensive and morally outrageous. This, is what we call "hypocrisy".

Can I just ask you something though?

Do you think that two 16 years old kids putting a cat in the microwave and killing it is NOT sick?

Judgment and hypocrisy are not the same thing. Junpd merely stated what the kids did were wrong. This is a judgment.

Hypocrisy is preaching a certain belief, while holding these same virtues oneself or acting in the same way that they are advocating against. Unless Junpd killed a cat in a heinous way, she may be judgmental (as we all are) but she is not a hypocrite.

However, SRVT, in your statement you are engaging in hypocrisy. You are stating that making judgmental statements about people and their circumstances are wrong, when in fact you are making a judgmental statement about the moral underpinnings of the person who made a seemingly judgmental statement. That sir is hypocritical.

Thanks, I didn't mention names so this is interesting you felt the need to respond. Great insights into who you are here.

Well, that's because you utterly fail at subtlety, Gary. You should try a bit harder.

Well you definitely fail at reading my mind. I was thinking just how angry and adversarial you seem to be. Somehow a story about 2 very sick kids gets turned into a rant about conservatives and religion. It's a running theme with you. I find that interesting and also very telling.

Duh. But am I in a position to judge them? I don't know them. I don't know the circumstances they were in. This is coming first hand from a person who did make the mistake. And someone who knows people DO things that others will consider cruel or morally offensive. I'm just not as overbearing in my assertion of people's behavior that I don't know, surreptitiously ignoring things I bet others would be offended by if that person ever told them things they regretted doing.

Firstly, calling me adversarial is, well.. teapot, meet kettle.

Secondly, of course I show hypocrisy from every angle. It takes being humbled and being shown your own hypocrisy, learning lessons early on, to understand the value of humbling another. Some refuse to be introspective about their overbearing beliefs, especially unto others, and guess what, if you're offended by how much I get onto overbearing conservatives and religious people, it probably is because you may be one of them. I've never had a problem being around rational people who want to live and let live.

However, this doesn't take away from the fact that you fail at subtlety.

It's nice to know that you are on the job in rooting out hypocrisy. I am sure that you are the best equipped person to judge others. Who appointed you to that post anyway?

Not about rooting out hypocrisy. Like in your case, you just spout off things about Obama and Clinton, for example, and refuse to actually get onto McCain, as if he's Jesus Christ himself. Now, if you were in the slightest bit humble or rational, you might actually get onto the guy's case, as well as Bush. Instead, usual finger pointing and refusal to acknowledge, that's when I know I see a lost cause. In which case, it just becomes fun to point out your hypocrisy for the hell of it.

I can see your just a n00b here. I have slammed Bush many times on many issues. I am also on record as stating the best thing about McCain is that he isn't Obama. I see your judgmental side showing yet again.

Ouch, an old guy calling a younger guy a n00b. Make sure to say that in front of a group of kids for real laughs. :D

What issues? I haven't seen it.

Also on the record of defending McCain's shafting of the VA, while touting he's helping the VA.

Defending Karl Rove while fed his own hypocrisy, and attacking Steven for actually posting it numerous times.

Suggesting Obama has no experience, which is clearly a convoluted lie. Then suggesting Palin has more on top of it. Damn, you "experience" hawks sure have a terrible recollection.

And yes, you are very much in love with Bush. If you want to be fed that one too I'll be glad to do it.

Anyone who tortures an animal for fun is a sick f*cking piece of pig testicle. And yes I am being judgemental... get over it.

Having remorse over it doesn't change the fact that it happened. The fact that it happened means that people will always react with anger when you mention it so don't go crying that everyone is being judgemental.

These kids need to be in jail for a long time for this. Or at least be put into a microwave themselves.

Take on as many as you like, but please do so without the profanity and personal insults, please. That's me speaking as a mod not a member.

I'm afraid your side is going to have more trouble with the insults than me.

I'm afraid your side is going to have more trouble with the insults than me.

And if they cross the line I'll act accordingly.

Hate to do it, but, as I just saw you reading the topic, can I get an "I told you so"? :P
