So, I'm starting the process after being too intimidated to jump in. But it's been long enough and we want out of here. I have a few questions though!

The papers they gave me or the ones that are usually printed out with the application. They give instructions and information, etc. Well, they say one thing, but the Indian man who answers the phone when I call says another. What should I believe? For instance:

- They say if you've lived anywhere longer than 6 months that you need a police report, yet another place it says more than a year.

- They say in the instructions you need the past three years in taxes, but the embassy tells me they just need the 2005 taxes.

So, do you usually trust the embassy on this one? Or the instructions?

Our interview date is on the 14'th of June! I'm nervous. Especially after they denied him a visitor's visa recently. I was really shocked, but come to find out that it's not uncommon to turn down visitors visas to people who have a spouse who is a citizen! I wish I would of known that in advance and I wouldn't have wasted my time sitting in the car in 104 degrees weather with an 7 month old baby.

Waiting for our interview for DCF... 14'th of June!

Recieved the visa on the 1'st of July!

Regarding the police reports, I researched this when I started the process as I have not been living in my current country of residence for long, and found USCIS to say:

'Police reports are required for: Country of nationality or residence where you have resided for more than six months since the age of 16, and any other country in which you have resided for more than one year since the age of 16.'

So if you've lived in your current country more that six months but less than a year, you need the police report. Any other country it's a year. If anyone has any more information or if this has changed, I'm sure they will post.

Good luck :)

Oh, my brain is not working this morning. Well, apparently they don't need police reports from here, which is where my husband has lived since he was 10 years, except for a time when he was 18 where he was in Russia for 7 months. I'll just try to call and ask this afternoon. :)

By the way, does anyone know what makes it goes faster or not? When I've talked to the embassy they've said I can expect it to all go through within a 7-10 days normally. That seems a bit quick. Maybe they are just bs'ing? What is the quickest you've seen it go? And is the petition usually given along with the application for the visa? Should I bring all at once?

hi,

Do what the Consulate asks on these questions---they each have their own way, and they are the ones you have to please. Sometimes they use an old version of a form they prefer etc.

There is a recent UAE DCF story posted.. hopefully you can find some helpful info there.

best wishes!

Oopsie, lizakur---it was either a brain fade or wishful thinking. I think I had a senior moment--there is no such experience posted here or at any of the other groups/sites I look at.

Sorry!
