Where do i begin!!! I'm from Aberdeen, Scotland.. Well i met my boyfriend online, I've known him for over 2yrs but things started to get a bit serious between us last December.. I ended up coming over to America in march this year for a 2 weeks holiday.. We hit it off right away that i am now back in America again & this time i am here for 3months.. I really want to move to America to be with him but marriage isn't an option for either of us.. How do i go about in moving to America? Just can't seem to find answers that i want.. i've thought of trying to find sponsership from an employer here but the information i found is that you need to have an employer that will be able to sponsor you then the next you find that they say you need to apply for a work visa first!! So i'm finding things a little confusing!!! Can anyone give me some help here.. Would be much appreciated.. Or is there anything else i can do to move to America?

Thanks

We first met online 2004, but things started to get serious in Dec 2007. Made my first visit to the USA in march 2008 for 2 weeks. Then returned again in Aug 2008 for 3 months.. Then i came back to the UK for 5 months to return back to the USA April 2009 for another 3months.

Moving to the US is very difficult, and virtually impossible for most people. Marriage is usually the best option for someone already in a relationship with a USC. Here is a link from another website that lists all the possible ways of moving here.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

You will need a work or marriage visa. There is no other legal way around it.

This site is focused on marriage/family based visas. So you will find lots of info to help you with a marriage visa. There are other sites out there that will be able to help you with work visas.

As you have said marriage is not an option right now, you will have to continue your relationship long distance. Its very hard, but people do it. Ultimately it will have to be a marriage visa if you can't get a work visa.

Good luck to you!

Is marriage not an option for you guys because you simply don't want to get married, or is there some other reason. If previous relationships are the issue, I'm sure you would find plenty of advice here about sorting that out and then going through the fiance or marriage visa route. But really unless you work in a very high demand job, I would think that spousal visa is going to be the only guaranteed route. Of course the other option is for your boyfriend to move to the UK.

What ever your decision, I wish you well.
