Iowa City police say culprit was easy to ID through his signature on receipts

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa City police say they didn't have much trouble finding a man accused of using a stolen credit card — he signed his own name to the receipts.

Police said the man used the stolen credit card to buy a latte at a coffee house and to buy cigarettes at a tobacco store. Police said the credit card was reported stolen from an unlocked apartment last month.

They said the man also tried to use it at another store, but the card was declined because it came up as stolen. He also used the card at a local deli.

He has been charged with four counts of unauthorized use of a credit card.

Or a hooker to bide him time for his next chance at hetero intercourse -- which, if convicted on all 4 counts, could be 20 years.

Makes me think of the moron who stole my wallet in July -- took the credit card and charged $16.06 at Del Taco. It was about 12 hours from the wallet being stolen until I discovered it missing and reported it and all this guy managed to rack up was 16 bucks and change of burritos.

I can see his defense already though - he's gonna say that he thought that card was his, since he has a same/similar one. He'll probably say (1) if I stole a card, wouldn't I spend more money on it and (2) I would only sign my name if I thought the card was mine.

Stupid criminals.
