Here for 4wks while our K1 is being processed...

Hi Everyone,

Well, after going INSANE waiting for International Arrivals to be processed at Detroit Metro Airport yesterday afternoon, David finally appeared! Immigration apparently had computer problems so US passport-holding passengers were able to deplane but everyone else was instructed to remain on board until the computer problem was fixed. 30 minutes later (after having arrived an hour early), he was on his way to immigration.

The official took his paperwork and inquired as to the nature of his visit. David volunteered that he was coming to visit his fiancee... they asked him how we met, what he did for a living that would allow him to take a month off at a time, and when he was planning to return. They asked to see his return ticket, handed it back, and told him to be sure to be on the plane (and they spoke simultaneously) "otherwise it will jeopardize the K1 visa". He thought it best to be up front and honest, rather than to simply say, "vacation", which didn't seem to casue any problems at all.

His luggage was waiting when he arrived at baggage claim (the delay on the plane worked in his favor as far as that went) and he had no trouble clearing customs. He'll be here for 4 weeks.

So now all we can do is wait like everyone else to figure out when to plan our wedding... we are completely flexible, but I would like to be married before the year is out.

If the delay is expected to be a long one, he will come back again for a visit in late summer or early fall... and hopefully be permitted to enter again....

Just thought I'd share our experience thus far...

Now if only the next 4 weeks would CRAWL along.....

Good to hear. I am going to the USA on Monday for a conference and then will spend 2 weeks with my finacee. Have all the paperwork ready including copy of NOA2 and letter from my boss saying when he is expecting me back... so fingers crossed!!! :-)

Thanks for your wishes, everyone. This is his first time to visit me... funny... I've imagined him here for so long that it's like second nature now for him to be here... my life is very hectic at the moment but he's taking it all in stride. Much different than the two times I went to see him and we had dedicated one-on-one time for each other. But the reality of day to day living is important for us to experience together as well, and this is our chance.

This weekend, he gets to be a part of our horse showing/horse camping, so that will really show all of our true colors, I think!!
