I came home from work early cause I have been sick since last thrusday night. Nice to see package 3 sitting in my mail box. Made me a little more happy. Kinda thought it would look different and not so plain. It's bittersweet news because of stuff going on with fiance. One question, it didn't come with DS 230 Part 2. Does montreal usually send that with it? I just dont want to be missing something. I received the DS 230 part 1. Hopefuly I'll get this mailed off in a few days.

I called for police cert. and they told me it was free. I just needed the letter from montreal and some id and it will take 2 minutes. Anyone else get theirs for free? I'm going through London Ontario. I just hope when i get there I don't hear a different story by the person working.

its free in mexico, maybe you should call again and get the name of the person just in case

Mine was $10, but if it's free- do it up. It's a boring looking piece of paper that will state there's nothing to state...lol.

I didn't get the DS230 Part 2, that was given to me to sign in Montreal so no worries.

I got my packet 3 today also. I got both parts, DS203 1 and 2. But I am filing CR1, maybe its different if you file different ways.

11/26/05 married!!!!

5/8/06 I-130 filed at Calgary Consulate

5/8/06 I-130 approved!! YAY!!!

5/23/06 Received packet 3

5/24/06 Sent DS230 parts 1 and 2 to Montreal

5/24/06 Sent request for certified criminal record check to Ottawa

RCMP police checks differ all across the country. One would think they would be the same, but nope!! Fees vary and the look varies!! Congrats on the packet

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

For K visas, it's only DS-230 Part 1.

For CR-1, it's both Parts 1 & 2.

My RCMP certificate cost me $ 25.00, and took 5 minutes. The wait for my number to get called took maybe 1/2 hour.
