Don't worry about SSn for AOS it is not required you can get it when you have EAD or GC . GC or EAD usually takes 3-6 months case to case basis. Some took a year or more. Mine took 64 days for both. Just keep on praying you will have them soon. God bless

You're still within the given timelines for your application approval. You don't need your SSN, so that's not holding anything up. You can check on-line to see your applications process. You had your biometrics done 31st of July, so it's just been about 5 weeks since then. You may hear something very soon.

Best of luck!

Having (or not) a social security card/number is in no way a requirement for AOS. (EAD takes 60-70 days on average.)

Thanks everyone for your reply and it helped me alot. I just got my Work authorization permit today and im so happy bout it. I'm planning to get a job soon but my problem is i dont have SSN number, Do i need to get my SSN number before applying for a job? If yes, may i know where i can get my SSN number? Should i need to wait that USCIS will give me my SSN number. I'm just little confused here. The only number i saw on Employment Authorization Permit was my alien number. Your help is appriciated waitng for your reply:) thanks

Well, Social Security and USCIS are two different institutions. I don't think you can apply for a job without social security. Most of the applications require that you put a social security number. Nonetheless, you can get social security now that you have your EAD/Work Permit. I think you should look up a Social Security office close to you and go there. Fill out a form and be sure to take your EAD card / work permit with you. They will take the application and you will receive your Social Security card in the mail in a few weeks. Also if you want to expedite, call Social Security one week after applying and ask them for your social security number. Numbers usually get assigned within a week or so.

To look up an Social Security Administration office close to you. Please visit http://www.ssa.gov/locator/

The other part of your question was your Alien Number or A#. That is your alien number/file number with USCIS. Whenever (and I hope soon) you get your GC, it is going to reflect the same number. However when looking for status update etc, you are going to need your receipt number found on I-797, receipt notice of I-485 that you received.

Hope that answers all of your questions.
