We're tallying up how much we need to have saved to get this whole process completed, and figured out everything but the air fair. When he's granted his VISA (being positive, not if but when!!), can he purchase a one way ticket to the US, or is he required to buy a round trip ticket in case he's denied at POE? He's being told he has to have round trip, but that's by people who've only been over on tourist's VISA's, not K-1's. Anyone know?

Thanks!

He can purchase a one-way ticket on a K1 visa. Though sometimes return tickets are even cheaper than one way tickets! For tourist visas it's always a requirement to have a return ticket.

That's what I was thinking, but he had me second guessing myself!! Thanks for the heads up on the possibly cheaper round trips, I'll be sure to look at both when that time comes!!

I agree, I don't know why, but round trip tickets are mostly always cheaper than one ways...go figure...good luck

Lol thankfully if seems to be a little different out here, most of the time one way flights from Aus to USA work out considerably cheaper then return. If can get to Brisbane international, he can probably fly Air Pacific Via Nadi (Fiji) to LAX from some where around 800 - 1200 dollars.

They have so far been the cheapest I have seen/used and not a bad little airline, being stuck in nadi for 4 or 5 hours bites a little, but Ive been stuck in worse airports!!

Dont forget to add in the costs of filing ($455US) Australian Medical ($400 - $500 dependant on place and can only be done at certain location, about 12 around the country) Visa interview ($131US) and as of yet i am not sure if you have actually pay for the visa once you recieve it after the interview.

Additionally if he's not a sydney local dont forget plane tickets/travel there and accomindation (dependant on location) for when he goes for the interview/ and medical dependant on location.

And yes I know Im crazy but like you know like to know what Im facing before the train hits.

The $131 is for the visa, I believe you don't pay for the interview though it appears that way as you par for the visa before you have even had the interview! Plus there are fees for delivery and any travelling to and from the interview.

Then once in the US it's $1010 for AOS and EAD.
