There are a few fields in the DS-156 i find rather redundant, probably because it's not designed specificly for a K1 Visa. I want to answer honestly but i dont want to make a faux pas..

Like question #22, When do i intend to arrive in the US, i really dont know, depends how fast/slow the consulate processes all this x.x, when i have my interview, etc.. Can i leave it blank, or am i required to provide a "best guess", or "wish" date?

Question #26, How long do you intend to stay, is it safe to say "intend immigration", since it is for the purpose of marriage?

That's about it really..

Another question, unrelated to my previous questions. Say for example i get my interview date in mid october, everything goes find and i get the visa, and i would like to visit for about a week, without ACTIVATING the visa, come back, tie up all loose ends, then leave at my leisure... possible? or once the passport is stamped with a visa, one does not go without the other?

Hello-

On 22 I put Sept 14 since that is just after his interview. That way if they ask him he can say that he plans on coming to the US right away, but that he doesn't have a plane ticket yet. They also ask if he has already made travel arrangements, and we put no.

On the 26th question, we put someting like "K1 visa will allow to apply for residency in the US" something like that. I can't remember the exact wording. I just put something short and simple explaining that he will become resident after arrival. :)

Hope that helps.

For 26- I put Permanently .

As for your last question, I dont think thats possible they put the Visa into your passport because its a K1 it is a one time entry I reckon that applies in all cases but i'm not sure.

Wait until just before the interview to fill out the form. You will know about when you intend to arrive and put a date. They don't hold you to it. I think we put September 15, but my fiancee is coming September 11. We also put "Sept. 15, pending approval"

For the other question put "marriage and permanent residency, K-1 visa"

As to your lat question...NO! The K-1 is a single entry visa. Once here you cannot leave the USA until you recive your permanent residency or an advance parole which you can file for with your AOS. More precisely, you CAN leave but cannot return on the K-1 visa. Take care of your business first. My fiancee received her visa in hand August 11 and is coming Sept. 11 and she took the month to wrap up loose ends and finish her business in Ukraine.
