Victor Insight of Troops in Iraq

First of all let me say this...my grandfather served in the army, as have uncles and my father.

I tried, and after the recruiting officer said at 5'6" I was too short to be an MP, I joined the Police Department.

I believe that wearing a uniform and serving your family, your community, your country, and your God, is the noblest thing a

person can do. I believe that those wearing uniforms should not be unnecessarily placed in harms way.

I believe that our military should only be used to protect our interest and when there is imminent danger to our people and land.

Last night, Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin, speaking of Senator McCain said he, "refused to break faith with those troops in Iraq who have now brought victory within sight". First of all, everyone who thinks any of these candidates actually wrote their speeches (Dems or Republicans) please stop reading now...you won't get it.

But knowing that they don't write these speeches, only deliver them, one would think that they would READ them, and if they found something they didn't understand or didn't agree with, that they would modify or omit it.

[Rant On]

Sarah, what victory are you talking about?

Sarah, what does and Iraqi uniform look like?

Need more time...I'll wait.

Oh, you have no idea?

That's because we're not fighting an army. We're fighting PEOPLE...people in t-shirts and gym shoes.

But they don't say we killed 5 women, 3 men, and 2 children in Iraq....no, the media says we had a conflict where 8 INSURGENTS were killed.

Well what is an INSURGENT? Believe it or not, most Americans have no idea...that's why it's a good word for the media.

Webster's says an Insurgent is "a person who revolts against civil authority or an established government".

Insurgents are CIVILIANS, they are not a military. If someone came in and invaded the USA, there's a good chance many of us would revolt.

Yes, then we'd be insurgents. But what civilized country would invade another country and replace their government, and start killing civilians?

What civilized country would put their noblest men and women in harms way, without approval from congress, and without approval from the United Nations?

One would think that if there was an urgency to invade and do away with Weapons of Mass Destruction that when those weapons weren't found, that maybe

you would pull your troops out. Maybe limit the death count. Maybe save 10 Billion Dollars a month. Maybe save some BRAVE American lives.

But no Sarah, if we know one thing about you, we know that once you set your mind to something, you can't be swayed, even when there's

evidence in your face that your course of action is not working. Kind of like your stance on no government funding for sex education, only for abstinence education.

Well maybe you can ask your daughter if that works. Maybe if she had proper sex education, she wouldn't have to become a mother and her boyfriend wouldn't

have to marry her just to attempt to save your political image. Maybe if your daughter had proper sex education she would know that there are other dangers

of unprotected sex besides pregnancy. But even when you see the failure of your ideals, you continue moving toward victory. When we're doing little more than killing

innocent people, spending money this country could never afford to spend on healthcare or education, and allowing our bravest citizens to be unnecessarily in harms way,

what victory can there be? Victory over killing more people, spending more money and losing more American lives?

That's not what I want for this country. The only victory I can see insight is for you and Senator McCain to be defeated. For our troops to be brought home as swiftly as possible. For us to stop pissing off the rest of the world by declaring ourselves the Global SuperCops. Is that the victory you were talking about Sarah?

Don't listen to CNN and FOX, I've been there and done that, Afghanistan and Iraq. I've been shot at by men, woman and children(CNN dont report that). War is never a pretty thing. It doesnt matter who wins the elections, it will make no difference to the military if we pull out of Iraq, all those soliders wont go home, they will go to Afghanistan, or about 100 different bases that are not in Iraq an in Afghanistan. Such as Qatar. We have a contract with them to have a base there for 99 years... we are there for good. We have many contracts like that with 100's of other bases. Our Military have been deployed to bases in the Middle East for the last 17 years... away from their family and loved ones, but thats not on the news.

These people are raised to hate other countires ( not just U.S.) from birth because of reliegious differences and what not. It's a long road ahead for our Military. Theses bases are not going anywhere because those bases are close to Iran.

ditto Moto zutto

we all want to live looking through rose color glasses..........

take them off and see the truth.

the US has been under attack since 1990 and culminated in 9/11.

defeat is not an option

only victory will produce peace. just ask Muammar al-Gaddafi and WWII japan/Germany/Italy
