Hey! I have two questions!

1- how do you know when you are touched? me, it always says the same thing: my case is received and pending... Do I need to do something else than entering my applicant's number?

2- Do we receive an I 797 after the biometrics appointment? how fast? My DMV's asking for this paper.

I checked mine again I'm afraid it was same like yours coz it was the first thing I did this morning after giving my husband morning kiss,LOL Well, luckily it was actually been touched after last 31st touched.

Look up on the "last updated" if you did sign up for online thing. If the date has been change than the previous then it was "touched".

2- Do we receive an I 797 after the biometrics appointment? how fast? My DMV's asking for this paper.

I dunno about that.. do you mean I-765? I have no idea about what is that i hope someone else can clarify.

hmm.. so I research for what is I-797 -- here it is.. Is this right? If so.... then I guess you don't need it coz it says you are a K1 visa holder when you get in to the United States?

I believe we don't get this form anymore?

For the I 797, the lady at the DMV told me that it is a NOA saying that I attended the biometrics. She said she need a paper with an expiration date. Since my I 94 expires on the 13th. She wants a paper that shows that I can stay in the US legally waiting for my green card...

But apparently no one here receives this...

I think I will never get my driver's licence...

I'm in the same situation, no DL so far, because I can't 'prove' that I'm here legally.

So, join the club.

BUT I have high hopes that we are all going to sail away from this situation soon.

This situation sucks! I think I won't be able to have a DL before I ll get my EAD. I just read the Colorado law, they list the name of visa which are eligible to have or have not a DL, and K is not listed, which means that I can but until the end of my I94. For K visa holders they ask a proof of lawful presence that I don't have one since my I94 expires in 10 days. I will have another one when I'll get my EAD.

I am soo excited...

First I got my Alaskan ID and DL yesterday, then I finally received by mail my SS card...

But most important: I just received a letter from my local office: They gave me an appointment for my interview for the green card!!! On november 20th!!!!! I don't know why though, they didn't give me any appointment for the biometrics... I have been sooo worried all this time, because I didn't hear from USCIS since september 16th... But apparently, even if they didn't update my cases online and I didn't get any touches from them, they transferred the case to my local office and now I have my interview date

So relieved now! I cannot wait...

Are you serious! To be honest, I'm affraid that this is a mistake. They might have intended to send you a letter for your biometrics instead of an interview notice. However, despite it being an error or not, if you never had your biometrics taken you won't be able to get your greencard or EAD. The greencard/EAD for instance contain your FP on it.

If I were you, I would try to get your FP done asap. See if you can walk in there next week. Bring your NOA's and picture ID]. If that works just show up at your appointment date and see if they are gonna interview you.

Hey! Yes, I think I will go to the federal building where I am supposed to get the interview to ask them about the biometrics... I hope it is not a mistake, but I have a pretty good hope, because a friend of mine adjusted his status from F1 visa and just got his green card. He lives here in Fairbanks and somehow he didn't get any biometrics letter either. He had to give his fingerprints the same day that his interview... So hopefully it will be the same for me!!!

Do not leave anything to chance, If I was you, I would schedule an infopass appointment as soon as possible to inquriy about your FP appointment.

Your green card cannot be approved without the fingerprints, and you risk needing to re-schedule your interview appointment. Also take into account that the place where they take your fingerprints (Application Support Center or ASC) *is different* from the place that does the interviews (Your Local office). For example envy_me and I went to different ASCs for the FP appointment, even though we both live in Chicago...

Thanks for your advice... I went to the place where I am supposed to have the interview, but the adjustment officers won't apparently be there before the actual interview date. The reason is because they travel all the way from my ISCIS local office in Anchorage to the Federal Building in Fairbanks in order to deal with the few immigration things that need to be done in Fairbanks. Fairbanks isn't referenced by USCIS, but as Alaska is so big, USCIS tries to make their agents go to Fairbanks sometimes, as it is the 2nd larger city.

Anyway, I'd like to take an infopass just to make sure I will get my fingerprints done before the interview, but Anchorage is 14 hours from Fairbanks by car (round trip), so I'd like to avoid that. However, the person at the Federal Building told me this morning that the adjustment officer usually comes with another person who is responsible for the biometrics... He didn't know however if I am supposed to also have another letter for the biometrics... So, I don't really know. I tried to call Anchorage office, but they NEVER answer their phone.

I don't know what to do to make sure my fingerprints will be taken the same day than the interview...
