September AOS filers

I have finally got aroudn to adding our receipt numbers into my portfolio on USCIS.gov. I-485 and I-765 were touched the same day as my wife's biometrics. Nothing else since then. For those of you who were transfered to CSC or to your local office, how long after biometrics was it? Just interested....

same situation as yours... my biometrics were done on the 15th and both my EAD and I-485 were touched on the 16th of oct but that's it... no more updates after that!

oh are you a H-1 as well? yes... we are kind of rare compared to K1/K3's.... but I am really thankful that I have a job other than just wait wait and wait...

Also, I have a question for everyone, I was looking at the NOAs and I saw that I was assigned a new (and completely different) A#. Has this happened to other people? Is this something to be concerned about?

Hm, I don't know about that... hopefully someone on the boards can give you some insight. I looked at my NOA's and my A# is the same, but I came in on a k-1 visa. If you're really worried about it, and no one gets back to you, maybe you can try calling them about it? at least so you don't have to worry about it.

If you check obsessively, it will show the last date your case was "updated" on the USCIS website. An update without any change in the file's status is generally referred to as a "touch." It can mean anything- from it being transferred to biometrics being added to your file, etc.

A touch is when your case is updated online. For example today I know my case was touched, because in my portfolio it says a new date under "last updated".

Some cases never get updated online, my K-1 visa in the online portfolio still says it has been recieved and that the case is pending. (but its obviously approved.)

You don't have to have email updates to get touches. All that does is notify you sooner when something changes on your case (so you'll get an email a couple days before the notice comes in the mail).

You don't have to have email updates to get touches. All that does is notify you sooner when something changes on your case (so you'll get an email a couple days before the notice comes in the mail).

You do have to subscribe, however, to see touches. You set up an email account to do that. You can then turn off or on email notification for each MSC number (there's one for the AOS, one for the EAD and one for the AP.) You log into your account and there will be a date by each MSC number when it was last touched.

RFE arrived today. When I sent in the I-864, Affidavit of Support, I sent them copies of Larry's tax returns (1040) for the last 3 years. The RFE wants the supporting documents for the most recent tax year - W-2's, 1099's etc.

So that's all I need to send back to them are copies of Larry's W-2 for 2007???? It will be in the mail tomorrow as I need to wait for Larry to come home to find it.

I didn't know that this RFE also holds up the EAD. "The Service will process your I-765, Application for Employment Authorization (if submitted) within 90 days of the receipt of your missing initial evidence. This is pursuant to Title 8, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 103.2(B)(10)(ii)."

Well, I just came back from the post office. I resent the W2, 1040 and 1099 documents and an additional 42 pages of turbo tax supporting documents they can read through . I hope that will be enough and we won't get another RFE. Hopefully my case will be resumed soon. I sent the package by express mail so they should have it in 2 days at the latest. This means the delay should be minimal. So now the wait starts again...

Stardust, I also experienced this, and now the case processing resumed... keep us posted, and I hope everything goes well for you/us!

We also got an RFE about a week ago concerning W2 and sent in some additional paperwork,

so you can also add us to the RFE list.

Are case is still on hold...hopefully resumed soon.

I have my biometrics appointment tomorrow...office is only a five minutes drive.

According to the USPS website, the packet arrived at the processing center in Lee's Summit, MO yesterday morning, but it hasn't been picked up and signed for yet. That worries me a bit. How long does it usually take for someone to pick up and sign for the packet? I was guessing that it would be the day of delivery or a day later. I really hope someone picks up the packet today so my case processing can be resumed. I hate this waiting

If your husband can't find his W-2, you can request a copy of your tax transcript. I remember a long time ago when I started this whole process that an immigration Lawyer advised me that USCIS prefers the tax transcript. Of course they don't tell you this but it's true. For the K1 visa, I got my tax transcripts and the ones for my sponsor and they accepted it just fine. Now the key is to get them, you have to call: 1-800-829-1040, choose 1 and then 1 again (i think) anyways you'll hear an option to request a copy of your tax transctipt but don't be fooled, this is to send it to you by mail and they want to charge you, what you do is press "0" to speak with a rep and tell that that you would like your tax transcripts to be faxed. If you want them faxed, it's free, but there's a catch..........you have to wait at least 40-60 min for a person to help you,(while i was waiting they repeated the swan lake waltz a million times) so yea you need a lot of time and patience in addition to being next to a fax for them to do that. Now, hen they finally answer ou they're going to verify that you are the person who's name is on the transcript (in other words your husban has to call) but other than that you get your transcript right away and USCIS accepts it no problem. Also, I got mines faxed to the staples that i was at b/c i don't have a fax, so as long as you tell them that you are next to a fax they'll send it to you. Hope this helps
