So I called today and talked to a USCIS customer service rep and she said that in NJ they are currently processing Sept 7th files...so it's getting close to my date.

As far as I knew, my case is in California...I tried to ask her where my case was exactly and she said NJ...I asked her why I didn't get notification of this...and she gave me some answer that I'm still not understanding but apparently, even though I got a notice back in November of 08 that my case was in California...that they are going by the local office time and that my case should be worked on soon in NJ.......

Whatever.

sigh.

You called and you learnt something about your case, be happy that's rare with USCIS! ^_^

Well I guess it means you'll have an interview then. Hang in there, it soons going to be your turn!

Me, I'm five days away from being out of the processing time! Yeaaaah.... <_<

I don't think I'll have an interview.

I don't think my case is in NJ...I think she was wrong.

My case was transfered to California months ago...I've gotten nothing since then stating it was transfered anywhere else.

Good luck with yours!!!

It's unreal that you are still waiting to receive your GC. I mean I had a RFE for a new medical and received my card back in April. Sure makes one wonder what does happen at USCIS.

Rupa

I hope your congress person can get answers for you. To have made an online appointment and for them to say they have no record of it, to me, is unacceptable. Kinda makes me think they just didn't want to deal with it.

Nagishaw

My fingers, toes and eyes are crossed for you. You also have my prayers that all goes well and you receive approval on the spot.

O.K. heard back from our congress woman. Here's the down low:

I have passed the FBI's security and background checks, but for some reason, USCIS does not think that is good enough. They have placed my file on hold until they can complete their own background check. This second check will take an indefinite amount of time.

She stated that the California service center is the worst one in the country and she has encountered many problems before with her constituents in processing delays and seemingly ambiguous reasons for them. She can not get an explanation from them as to why my file was transferred there. She acknowledges that it is likely that there will be no interview but can not understand why the delays are so out of step with all the other centers and why California is so bad at processing 1-485's.

She has called them twice in one day and followed up with an e-mail, both times to the officer responsible for responding to congressional requests. The officer is REQUIRED to respond to her within 24 hours. He/She never did. She was able to find out the above from speaking with someone else. Needless to say my congress woman is as befuddled and disappointed as I am. All she was able to do was take copies of all the letters and case status reports I've received from USCIS and start her own file on me and promised that they will monitor and follow up on it along with the other complaints they have about the California service center.

So other than feeling like I've really been screwed over, it appears there is nothing to do but wait for the bureaucratic inefficiency of this process to run its course and just get on with life. I am tempted to ask our congress woman though at what point can we and others call foul and demand some accountability and efficiency in the process ?!?!?!

Okay...so I called and got through to an agent, she said that yes, my case was way out of the time line and opened up an inquiry.

She said I would hear something before July 17th, 2009.

If not, I should call.

My case is in Newark....so I will probably get an interview.

I hope this goes quick!!

Hope everyone still waiting hears good news very soon....this sucks!

Hey Guys!

I went yesterday at my infopass to know what was going on with my GC interview... And I am soooo pissed!!

The guy told me that on February 2nd they sent me my interview letter, and my interview was scheduled on the 26th of February! And of course, I never got this letter! pffff. So now he told me that a request to reschedule another interview was made on May 26th and it could take another month or two before I get another interview. I hate the American post office and I think it s especially the one here in Fort Collins. We never receive our important letters or my packages that my friends and family send me from France.... <_<

It was a bitter sweet day though, because yesterday I finally got hired for a job. I will start in August! :P
