hello VJ peeps,

It's been a long time, but we just received a letter from USCIS:

REQUEST FOR APPLICATION TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW

CASE TYPE: FORM I-485

On: WEDNESDAY, MARCh 04, 09

Sorry, but what does that mean? how about the i130? will we have to do another interview for that?

What exactly happens after that interview, because we are supposed to leave the country 2 days after the interview for 4 days, is that dangerous? will they take the advance parol from us? Please help out?

Also, if we get the interview letter, does that mean that everthing that we sent is correct? I'm a little scared about the cosponsor i864, but since we got the interview you guys think that we dont have to worry about that?

Sorry if I have tooo much questions but I'm just a confused college student :)

04/17/2012- Naturalization Interview-PASSED

04/24/2012- Oath Ceremony!

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On January 21, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

If you have your AP, they won't take it from you at the interview. Don't worry. You can travel no problem.

Yes, if you have the interview it means that everything's alright mainly. But sometimes it happens that they ask for more evidence if something's missing during the interview...

Just a side note - I start work on Monday. :wacko: I haven't worked in 9 months. I believe it's only for 28 hours to start so that will help ease me back into the working world. I'm still in shock - I can't believe Accountemps have found a job for me already. :o

Well that's great! Many congrats.....my first 2 days back has been pretty boring so far. I wished I could have only been away from work for only 9 months instead of 8 years......Getting back into a regular routine and schedule is proving hard!!!

You don't get an interview for the I-130, it's either approved or denied, but since you've got an interview for the I-485, you can safely assume it's been approved (the I-130 that is).

How sure are you that the AP is not taken at the interview? I'm sure I have read cases on here where it has been taken away, my opinion is that it is not a good idea to travel straight after the interview without receiving the greencard, because what happens if it is approved while you are away? The AP becomes invalid does it not?

Have an VWP country people gone home on AP since the new ESTA came in?

I'm presuming I don't have to fill it in, since I'm not travelling on VWP but just wondering if anyone has experience.

My cousin traveled 2 days after her interview. She was never asked for her AP at the interview and she had no problems getting back into the states. Her greencard was waiting for her when she returned.

Hi everyone,

I just tried to post this, but I think I messed up. I'm not too great with computers...

So the frustration continues with USCIS. We mailed in my husband's AOS package on September 10, they received it on September 17. We still have had no updates or even touches on any of the 3 applications (AOS, EAD, AP).

I saw last month that you could call and put in a service request to get a decision on the EAD and AP within 45 days. So I called that customer service number, and they told me I could put in a service request in for the EAD, but the processing time for the AP had changed to 180 days. Awesome.

So we went ahead and did the service request on December 19. The rep on the phone said it never takes 45 days, so we were optimistic. Of course today is January 23 and we still haven't heard anything from them. Not even a letter stating that they had filed the request. Double awesome.

We just called and spoke to a really nice rep on the phone who said that they had mailed the notice of request of December 29 stating that they would look into our case. Well, we still haven't received that letter. I asked if she could have that letter re-sent so that we could have something in writing. Of course not, she said, because that is a computer-generated letter and she could not help. Triple awesome.

She then said that this mysterious letter of December 29 also stated that if we do not receive a decision within 60 days of that letter (what in the world happened to the 45-day rule?!), then we could call back or go into our local office. So now we have to wait until February 29 (she said Feb 29, but that does not exist - so I'm assuming we now have to wait until the first of March?!!!!??!). Quadruple awesome.

My husband has been here since June 21. It has now been 7 months and we still have no answers. He's starting to get really frustrated and we're both ready for him to get out of the house!!! Haha, just kidding. But he's going stir crazy here. And he cannot get his driver's license until he gets the EAD from what I understand, so this means he's literally stuck in the house all day.

I'm know that you all know exactly what we are going through. But it kind of makes me sad and worried that I see many people have already had their interviews and already have that so-coveted stamp in their passport. We haven't even gotten employment approval...

Does anyone have any advice for us? I'm not sure there is much we can do at this point, just keep our fingers crossed and hope that someday we will get that letter in the mail...

malianqueen, I see you have your interview at the Detroit office. Congratulations!

My husband is getting very disgusted as he plans on returning home in March. He has convinced himself that there isn't going to be an interview. ( Obviously, lies that the devil has planted in my husband's head). We made an Infopass for Monday to correct the spelling on his AP and to inquire about what, if any progress is being made in terms of an interview, and now he tells me this morning he isn't going! Everyone please pray in agreement with me that God somehow, some way softens his heart and he comes to his senses about this and goes to the appointment. Thanks in advance to all who will pray. I fear this is our only hope.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
