I HAVE A QUESTION I DONT KNOW IF THIS MAKE SENSE...

DO WE HAVE TO FILE INCOME TAX RETURN? EVEN IF WE DONT RECEIVE OUR GREEN CARD YET?

Yes! Everybody has to fill taxes (even undocumented immigrants!, they just get something called ITIN). I'm currently on H1-B visa but have been filling taxes since 2005.

Taxes are due April 15th, so you have plenty of time. Please note that you need to tramit your SSN to do your taxes. The advantage is that for tax purposes since you are married to a USC citizen for IRS purposes you are 'resident' already, so you can fill married filling jointly and get the same deductions that U.S citizens get.

so, an update from my side:

called to make another service request for an interim ead today as we are at about 93 days or so...

the guy was nice, and said we should hear something in 5 days. he said we couldn't do the interim over the phone, which of course, contradicts what we were told earlier.

but still, i'm happy that he said 5 days, instead of 45 days. who knows, maybe we'll have some luck?

we still have an infopass sent up for next Monday.

Okay... My AP got approved and EAD says card production ordered today.

Few days to go and i can start job hunting.. YAY!! that is good news for me even it is OVER 100 days now!!!

I guess I will be the last one on this forum to get his EAD and AP approved. I am still waiting.

I called them twice one for service request and other for Interim EAD. He told me that if I should hear from them within 5 days from 12/22.

we have been waiting for the EAD and nothing at all I don't know if it is because it is in Vermont or what but the online statis has never changed since we submitted everything. Even thought we have gotten notices. This is driving us crazy

Yep, even if you don't work. I think technically you could file 'Married filling separately' and state in your return that you didn't have any income but it would not be beneficiary for the both of you. Married filing jointly is the best filing status if only one spouse has significant income.

your timeline is very similar to mine. Same as us, we have not gotten any updates on anything except receiving our interview letter. No AP or EAD and the interview letter showed up in the mail and no update or change on line. I do not think it is where you are living because all the AP and EAD applications are processed in the national service center and not your local office. Only the interview is done there and the biometrics.

We have called twice and have left service requests and I called the other day for the third time and we were told we already placed one and we have to wait. Only thing left for us is infopass, but up here the mountain passes are so bad and we do not have a reliable car to drive since our local office is about 1.5 hours away...............

So just leaving it to our prayers.

Aww, thanks, Maeve... yes it is a bummer, but now that i know that they outsource their customer service, it makes more sense that nobody knows anything.

We are still waiting, after 2 service requests... still no news on AP or EAD or anything!

i wonder if we all have the same adjudicator??

Let's try to stay positive... and keep in mind that USCIS is closed tmrw, friday, sat, and sunday... so, i vote for not looking at CRIS for four more days.
