MSC is the national benefits center - they all go there, and then transferred to CSC or local office (correct me if I'm wrong)

Totally random question, but does anyone know the best way to speak with a real live person through USCIS' phone system? I keep trying to call and always get stuck in their phone tree...my father-in-law always seems to get through, but he hasn't told us how...

No, you don't have to be there, if you do accompany her they will make you wait in the waiting room. I went alone, all they will do is make her fill out a form, wait a bit, then have the fingerprints and picture taken. If it weren't for the line I probably would have been out of there in 15 min... but since I had to wait it took 45 min.

If I remember correctly, I chose the option for change of address and followed the prompts to speak with a real live person......at least we think they are alive.

USCIS is taking forever to give me an appointment, so that potentially means that my case is going to be slower than for people who applied at the same time than I did but who had their biometrics appointment done whithin a couple weeks after application?

It also seems like many people prefer having their case transfered to California rather than their local office. Why is that? It is faster there???

Faustine: I believe a transfer to CSC means that they didn't see a need to do an interview which means you're going to be approved.

Being transferred to CSC *doesn't* mean that you won't have an interview, it just happens that lately CSC has been processing cases much more quicker than Vermont (VSC). It is actually kind of interesting because I read in another thread how a year a go it was exactly the opposite, VSC was much faster than CSC. It seems like USCIS tries to balance the workload between both centers, but the process is not perfect, hence the 'pendulum' behavior.

The local offices processing times also vary widely... I was reading in the January 08 filers thread how the Seattle office was taking about 9 months. As a comparison the Chicago office is taking about 4 months to process

p.s. I was updating the September Filers spreadsheet, and I found out that the average time between NOA1 and the biometrics appointment is 20 days so far....

Yep. Nick and I met in 2005 on there.

We talked casually and then we kind of got bored of it. We moved to WoW and fell in love on there

I do miss COH/COV at times.
