Ok....on the "August N-400" thread....EVERYONE'S cheque has been cashed and they ALL have NOA1 except me.......its been 10 days now and counting...and my cheque STILL has not been cashed, the money is still sitting there untouched.

Sent a cheque to better track things...instead of money order.

What do you think has happened???...and how much longer do you think they will take to cash it...i'm starting to worry.

i did receive the return receipt from the post office indicating that they did receive it with Paul E Novak(VSC directors) stamp on it....but NOTHING else...

What do i do???

advice appreciated. thanks

After a over a year went by with nothing on our I-751, started to get concerned. And why? Wife and daughter could lose their jobs, and if they lost the application, could even claim we never sent it and deported them. Had a nonchalant attitude with the N-400, did send it off 90 days before her 3rd anniversary, but first class mail, after a little over four months, wife is a USC. With the I-751, did send that overnight with a receipt, beginning to think with that extra care, they just take those and stash them in a pile someplace.

Wife could have erred about requesting her oath after the interview, was essentially given a line of BS by her interviewer, was no need to get the Department of Justice involved, nor excuses about their delays, everything was handled at the field office, or that her application had to be sent to the head office for final approval, but was promised she would receive her oath letter in less than two weeks. After a month, got my senator to go after them for some quick action.

All in all, seems like if you really care and do everything in an expeditious manner, you get extensive delays, but if you don't give a damned, then get good service. Just my impression. With the posted processing dates, didn't expect to hear anything for a good year, but it moved amazing fast when we didn't care, but did care about that oath letter as you can't make any plans until you get it.

Aussielad - I suspect it was Labor Day holiday that slowed things down for you, since people often take more vacation around that time. Since it's probably the same people opening the packages in the mail room etc, I see on the Removing Conditions list for VSC that the people who filed for that at similar time as your N400, also do not have NOAs etc. Mid next week would be my prediction FWIW. Hope it will be sooner than that though!

AOS: ND - June 5 2006 | RFE - June 15 2006 | FP Notice - June 30 (Rescheduled to Sept 16) | AP ND - August 14 2006| Walk-in FP - Sept 5 (FP cleared next day!) | Interview - Sept 8 2006 (Approved!) | Welcome Letter - Sept 13 | EAD received - Sept 19 (kinda moot since I'm waiting for GC) | GC received - Sept 23 2006 - Woohoo!!

I-751: 06/10/08 Mailed package to VSC direct (per memo instructions) not TSC. The wait begins... | 06/11/08 Package received at VSC (12.12pm) | 06/19/08 Check cashed | 06/20/08 Received NOA1 in the mail - ND is 06/17/08 | 07/10/08 Received Biometrics Appt Letter - ND is 7/7/08 | 07/22/08 Biometrics (had to do ink & paper also...) | 07/22/08 Touched | 07/23/08 Touched | 02/11/09 Transferred to CSC (got email)... | 02/12/09 Touched | 02/20/09 Touched (but no email) | 03/24/09 Approval letter arrives in the mail! Approval date is 3/18/09 from VSC | 04/03/09 Received card, postmarked 3/31 from CSC

N-400: 06/11/09 Mailed to Lewisville Lockbox | 06/12/09 Package received at Lockbox and signed for at 1.31pm | 06/18/09 Check Cashed | 06/19/09 NOA, PD 06/12/09 | 07/06/09 Biometrics letter received, ND is 07/02/09 | 07/24/09 Biometrics appointment | 08/06/09 IL received, ND 08/03/09 | Interview 09/14/09 at 9.30am (approved!) | Oath 10/21/09 | USC

This is America. USCIS only accepts checks, not cheques. Send them a check with a note explaining your error and I'm sure they will get right on it. (:

But seriously - if you're worried about it, why not just call them?

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

cheque (cheque n. Chiefly British. Variant of check), has NOT been cashed yet for N-400

I feel the problem is with the drastic fee increases of the USCIS over that last year, they completely over filled their bank accounts and just simply do not have any space left for the money of cashing your check. So you may have to wait until the middle of the month payroll to empty those accounts down a little, then they will cash your cheque.

Don't worry too much about it.

It will be cashed eventually.

Sometimes it takes longer than usual.

As long as you send it with delivery confirmation, or return receipt, which can be tracable,

it will be fine.

One of thing you may learn from USCIS to deal with immigration is patience you need for your whole life.

Not that I want to learn, but that I must have to learn the case with USCIS...

Otherwise, you will have blood pressure, and colestrel increased a lot.

Jezuz. Take a class in patience man. You should give it at least a month before even calling the service center, let alone a senator's office.
