Good morning from sunny New York,

Almost finshed with the daunting DS 156 and need a little advise. Luc was denied enterence into the US in March 08. He was travelling by bus from Montreal to New York and simply did not have the "proof" necessary and was advised by the border control to come back when he had the nesessary proof (pay stubs, etc.)

(This scare actually spurred us to apply for the Fiance Via so maybe good can come from bad!)

Question 22 on DS 156 asks about "refused admission"...should we click on "yes" or "no"..and if yes, should we offer some kind of explanation as the "yes" could apply to any of the other specification they mention in the question...?

And am I right that the DS 156K as forwarded by the consultate is a paper document not electronic?

As always- thank you for all opinions!

Never lie on an immigration form or to an immigration official.

On the DS-156 I look at Q.22. is "When do you intend to arrive in the US?"

I do not believe any of the "K" versions of the DS forms are electronic yet.

YMMV

opps, yes, sorry- question 38!

Since the "E" form does not provide a section for an additional explanation, when interview time come simply be prepared to clearly explain.

YMMV

Agreed.................but how do I supply the information that this denial was due to the above referenced situation and not fraud or willful misrepresentation..? This seems an important info.............

They'll ask you about it when you get to the interview. :) If you're really worried about it, just attach a typed form with an explanation of why he was denied entry.

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.
