Also consider sending gifts in the mail. Write a letter by hand. It might behove you to learn each others languages. My Wife is an English teacher so she is way ahead of me. :P

USCIS is unnecessary and a complete freaking waste of everybody's time. What did they do other than waste 7 months of our time and take money?-- because I now have to resubmit the exact same damn information(plus some) to NVC. Apparently there is no connection between USCIS and NVC so USCIS cant simply send our documents to NVC. I was happy to get approved by USCIS but now the process starts all over again only with more complications. Maybe someday I can meet these people in person and thank them face to face for f**ing up almost everything so far. Addresses incorrectly copied, email address repeatedly typed in wrong, names misspelled, ECT, ECT, ECT.

Hows about mandatory drug testing for all who are employed at NVC? All in favor?

261 days!!!!.. what a torture to US Citizens... people who come here on H1B visas can get their loved ones in 2 weeks...this is so not fair for all American Citizens... if you think about this, its delaying our progression and it is such a complete wastage of time.. i dont mind if the processing timeframe is like 6 months old. but if it exceeds more than that its really so hard to sustain.

Edit: you are the OP!

Out of curiosity, your timeline says you sent your petition in to VSC in late May/early June, so the government hasn't kept you waiting for 261 days... Or am I misreading your timeline?

I think it was 261 days since he saw her, not since he filed the petition lol.

Learning each other's languages, if you don't know them already, is awesome and something you can do over web cam or any voice protocol. If you DO know them, learn some of the slang or some of the ways that one another's family say I love you. Some families have very different ones.

Time together can be simple. My fiancé and I read one another fairy tales. We do it mostly at bedtime. I read to him in French and he reads to me in English. My English is as perfect as any other anglophone's, but he's trying to learn French, my second language, so that we can raise our children bilingual as we feel that, in a global economy, speaking multiple languages is very important. I'm also trying to learn Spanish, his second language, but that goes much slower for me because he is far too fascinated with French to help me with my Spanish!

March 13, 2009--Visa application handed to the post office.

March 16, 2009--Visa application received by Vermont Service Centre at 11:01 am. Let's hope that he actually put in everything he thought he did and they don't send it back to us!!

March 23, 2009--Got the whole package back. The cheque was apparently filled out incorrectly, thanks to the fact that his moronic flatmates helped him and instructed him wrong for the first cheque he ever filled out.

March 30, 2009--NOA1

August 12, 2009--Touched

September 1, 2009, received Package 1 from Montreal--but where is our NOA2???

I am happy for you that you'll finally get to see her again!!

Whenever he comes here and I pick him up from the airport, I always am afraid of passing out because I am so excited and nervous to see him. :P Once he is here, we just hug and kiss and everything is as it was the last time we were together or even better. It somehow feels as if it was just a nightmare when he was away and I then wake up.

Hmm...right now I am caught in this nightmare again :(

Oh well, our time will soon come again.

Usually we talk almost every day over webcam and mobile phone in rare emergency cases of love sickness.

He has already started to learn my mother tongue and I am so proud of him whenever he says something new to me in my own language

Love is such a great feeling!! :-)

I tried some Long distance ones before where I had never actually met the person in real life.

2 of the 3 I tried were mistakes.

One turned out to be a guy with a girls acount. (short lived relationship of course)

The other was a girl that had made herself a profile and account all with another girls pictures (a friend of hers). I had her get on the webcam and she would actually have her friend sit in front of the camera while she was out of view typing back to me. I really liked this girl's personality but geez. If you're going to go through all that to keep up a lie then how can someone trust a word from your mouth y'know? That went on for something like 5 months untill her friend contacted me telling me everything. :bonk:

But I met Iryna almost 2 years before we went through the k-1 and spent about 9 months together so It was all good.

So anyone who can go through a real long distance relationship (without meeting the other person yet) is a brave soul. kudos to you. :D

Hey everybody

i got engaged to my loved one on Jan 1st 2008 in india... Just wanted to share the good news that i will meet her after 261 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. i am authorized from my company to work for 3 weeks in france and 3 weeks in singapore. she will be flying to singapore on 27th of sept and we will finally meet each other after 261 days.... i am getting goosebumps and i am so excited to see her.

i hope she recognizes me.. lol..

please provide comments on surviving a long distance relationship.. :help: it should be helpful for everyone.

Also give me some ideas as what should i do after i getout from the airport and see her again.. i dont know what will i do when i see her.. :-)

Bring flowers..., which might not be possible. I do not remember I've seen any airport with florists. That would be just as nice if you spend some time to pick up a gift for her before you travel.

I show my fiance the new moves I learn from my weekly salsa class every Saturday. Then we'd dance to each other via Skype. It's a lot of fun! Some of you should try it sometime. He once danced with a teddy bear pretending it was me : ). It was hilarious  to watch.

Awwwwwww..... we do the whole "watching movies/videos & listening to music together" thing too!!!!! I love it! Even though we are thousands of miles away, we do everything we can to be together & do things together. The wait hurts like hell, but all the pain will be worth it in the end if it means we get to marry & spend the rest of our lives together. :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv:

As for helping with the long distance thing, the best thing me and my fiance ever did to help us get through it is to each buy a webcam. failing that then at least a instant messenger. time differences can always be tricky but you just have to work around it. Something fun to try that can make you feel closer to her if you have either webcams or instant messenger is to watch/listen to the same movie/tv show/album at the same time.

hope this helps.

good luck
