I agree with Luis&Laura. Is it our fault they don't have the new form yet?!

It´s their fault.. they know that.

But they don´t care. People are gonna lose plane tickets and if I recall correctly, the petitions are valid for 4 months.

If they don´t sort this out soon thwy will expire and we can expect even more delays.

It is always advised to not make any plans or flight bookings until visa is in hand. That is not USCIS fault.

How can there be delays if the petition expires.....it will be extended just as it always has been in the past.

I'm all for saying that this situation sucks but not everything is their fault. Some comments that are being thrown around these threads loosely will add fuel to unnecessary panic.

Today I got package 4 in the mail.

It should have been the best day of my life, but instead it was the most frustrating.

It was very sad to read my interview date, and forms that I will do nothing with them.

Not a reason to panick?

Plus, somepeople need to give a 1 month notice to their jobs.

Not the best situation to think clearly.

I agree... It's pretty risky to buy a ticket and plan a wedding before you have the visa in hand.

That is very true. First tips we get is not to buy tickets or pay for wedding arrangements in advance as we don´t know what will happen. We can only try to reach the authorities to move faster and to wait, like I had said before.

So let´s not wait...

We demanded a word from USCIS and they released an Official Statement.

Now we know Washington has the answer to "WHEN??????????????????"

Let´s get this answer from them. Why not?

rlt, I know you are upset. And I know you believe that some sort of organized effort has been banded together here. But I really doubt that 'demanding a word' from USCIS brought about the Official Statement. More likely it was the director of the Vermont Service Center that is forcing any action that is taking place. From all the previous commentary I have read, she is a highly skilled and efficient manager. You can probably thank your unlucky stars that this happened in Vermont. At least they will stay on top of it there.

And in case this sounds harsh, I feel for you people. I would be as mad as you are. I think you all need to hang tough and support each other - and watch the tone of your posts too. I can see where if I were in your shoes and reading some things here, I would become even more disheartened...

Does that make sense? Not admonishing....just asking for calm. (F)

It´s not harsh at all. I, for one, am trying to keep quiet, but I´m still quite frustrated and sad about this. I just hate to think I was so unlucky as to choose NOW of all times to be in this process. I´m an anxious person so it´s been hard for me, and I am sure for others is even worse.

I do agree that we ought to wait and tone down until we get more info and news.

Yes, of course it does make sense.

Thanks.

It´s just that as you said, I am on my shoes and it´s a very big mistake they made. I mean.. sending approved aplications in error.

:) I´m sorry if I treated someone with no respect. It was not my intention. Just not easy not to plan after you have your interview scheduled.

I believe no one was worried about "something still can happen" before this IMBRA thing.

I agree... It's pretty risky to buy a ticket and plan a wedding before you have the visa in hand.

It is definitely risky but then there are people in my shoes where extenuating circumstances or a misinterpretation creates problems.

We got engaged in January and started planning immediately as we knew that my fiance's job was due to end in July we figured why the hell not just get married then? Unfortunately he mistakenly thought that since the UK has a visa waiver program, under which you can remain in the country for 3 months as a tourist, we would not need a visa to get married here. It wasn't until about a month after had started planning and already put down deposits etc. did I check just to be sure and realized that we needed on afterall.

At that point, there was no going back and, according to the timelines, we should have been fine. Plus, we have a pretty straightforward uncomplicated case so I was fairly confident that things would move smoothly until this point. Now we're left in a bind but all is not lost. Should the need arise, we're going to go through with everything and planned but have the ceremony be a committment ceremony rather than a legal wedding. The officiant has done this before and said no one will even notice. Then L will return to the UK for however long it takes. Once we have the visa he'll come back here and that'll be that!

Yes, I agree that this is not all USCIS' fault. However, this mistake has made an unfortunate situation like ours even worse!! *sigh* The worst part? Our application was received on March 8th. Two days earlier and it would have been fine. gggggggggrrrrrrrrr.

Sorry - just venting. I'm so stressed out.

I feel so badly for all of you suffering through this. A good friend of mine here told me today that she was glad she has not filed yet.....that after all the waiting to date, had this happened to her (after seeing progress in the forms of NOA's, etc), it would send her around the bend.

IMBRA is not new to this board though. If you advance search the forums, you will locate a few threads posted this past winter. At that time, it drew little attention. I read it with interest, and there were several of us wondering just what effect it would have once implemented. But there was no point in raising the alarm - those of us who have been around this 'system' a while knew that the only way things were going to shake down was to simply let it fly.

The entire effect of IMBRA remains to be seen. I urge you all to hunker down and stick together. There are plenty of us old-timers here that will try and help sort it out, if you like.

No problem, each case is different and unique, and I understand why you went ahead and planned some. I planned on going to Puerto Rico in July, we got engaged beggining of January, and we too, didn´t know the K1 process was so long and complicated, although I knew I needed to get a fiancee visa, I thought it was a similar procedure as a tourist visa, thinking it´s a non-immigrant visa. So only in March we went to see how we were supposed to do this, and I found this forum and saw how much more complicated it´d be. So now I don´t know when I´ll be able to go home to my fiance.
