blocked at work. what'd they say?

Transcript is from dailykos:

Noonan: [Can't hear since Todd (who is still on air) is talking over her]

Murphy: Um, you know, because, I come out of the blue swing state governor work. Engler, Whitman, Tommy Thompson, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, I mean, and these guys, this is all how you win a Texas race, just run it up, and it's not gonna work.

Noonan: It's Over.

Murphy: Still, McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech and do himself some good.

Todd: Don't you think this Palin pick is insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson to...

Noonan: I saw Kay this morning...

Todd: She's never looked comfortable about..

Murphy: They're all bummed out.

Todd: I mean, is she really the most qualified woman they can turn to?

Noonan: The most qualified? No. I think they went for this, excuse me, political bullshit about narratives and youthfulness and the picture...

Todd: Yeah, but the narrative?

Murphy: I totally agree.

Noonan: Every time Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at, they blow it.

Murphy: You know what's the worst thing about it, the greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and..

Murphy and Todd together: This is cynical.

Todd: And as you called it, gimmicky.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering who these people are:

Chuck Todd is a political analyst and author, as well as the political director and on-air analyst for NBC News and MSNBC.[1] He is an occasional contributor to other news outlets, including the Atlantic Monthly.

Michael Murphy (born William Michael Murphy, Jr. in 1949) is a New Jersey lobbyist and political consultant (partner at the lobbying firm Impact NJ) who ran for Governor in the Democratic primary in 1997 and had previously served as the Morris County Prosecutor. He is a scion of the powerful Murphy-Hughes political legacy.

Peggy Noonan (born Margaret Ellen Noonan on September 7, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York) is an author of seven books on politics, religion and culture, a weekly columnist for The Wall Street Journal, and was a primary speech writer and Special Assistant to President Ronald Reagan. She is considered a political conservative.

Why do members of the media have to think the mics are turned off for them to really say what they think? Wassup with that?

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I was wondering the same thing. I think it might be similar to how they handled themselves up to the time that we invaded Iraq - there's this fear that if they inject too much of their own commentary or editorialize the news too much, Americans might think the media helped persuade the populace one way or another.
